Tecnacraft Turnbuckles from Hong Kong.

Post by DaveM »

Hi Guys,

I bought some Tecnacraft turnbuckles off E-bay from Hong Kong.

They are not 4-40.

The diameter at the threaded section of an original Tecnacraft Turnbuckle is (4-40) or 3mm which fits

the Team Associated #6274 ball cups perfectly.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LX2549&P=7

The ones from Hong Kong are close to 3.5mm and are just too hard to fit the ballcups and when I did

get one on the ball cup was distorted.

Cheers, Dave. :(

Those sound like the HD link set, that use the grey RPM ends

I don't understand,

All the Tecnacraft turnbuckles I have when measured have a diameter of 3mm (4-40)

which fit the vintage ball cups.

Are you saying Tecnacraft made a HD link set?

Cheers, Dave. :(

Those that GoMachV posted say 6-40 so I bet they fit what you have. I also have a stash of those but I don't know what size they are.

Just like Lunsford, they started with 4-40 but evolved into heavy duty.

Hi Guys,

Looks like I made a mistake, I should have read the add properly.

I saw Tecnacraft and thought they would suit the RC10 with vintage ballcups.

The ones on E-bay are the later HD ones.

but I wanted 4-40 turnbuckles.

So I am still short 4 turnbuckles for my graphite restoration. :(

Cheers, Dave. :(

Just use them with the rocket city ends, it is 100% period correct and was very common

Hi Charlie don't surf,

The problem I have now is I don't have a complete set of either but a mixture of both, and I would need

to buy different rod ends.

I might just put this buggy in the cupboard for a while, I am just over it at the moment.

Regards, Dave. :(
