Gold tub Caddy Clean-up

I picked this up awhile back. I was going to use it for another replica, but since I can't find anyone to hard ano the old "team" shock correctly, I've decided not to bother. So it's just been sitting around. Here it is when i got it. Kinda dirty, but hardly used.

Yesterday I went digging for some parts. That turned into tearing it down for a clean-up. I didn't get crazy. Kept all the same old oxidized hardware, didn't even crack the shocks or trans open. Just did a light cleaning. I was just going to throw a servo in it for the hell of it. That turned into digging up this KO system I've had laying in a box for years with nothing to put it in. Well, it went into this. Still have to dig up a servo horn...... or get one. I have an old Speedworks Blueprint (i think) mod that's going to go in it, and I have to come up with some sort of battery. I have an old 1200scr 7 cell pack that might fit the bill. We'll see.

This also a very late short arm car. Notice the 2 hole rear shock tower and 2nd series rear bulkhead.

Nice work cleaning it up! Its amazing what you kind in boxes that have not seen the light of day in a long time. I wish I had that same problem.

Oh, this wasn't in a box....... it's been sitting on the workbench since I got it. I was down in the basement to look for other stuff.

I'm sending stuff out for ano and I was debating on sending these parts out for a color change (the factory ano isn't all that great). It just turned into a whole lot more than it should have (at the time).

Ahh....

I knew I had those electronics, just never really had anything to put them in (mainly the reversing esc). Most of what I build is more race inspired (replicas and such). I was planning on cutting this one up for that purpose when I got in last Oct-Nov, and was still thinking about it up until I decided on the electronics. At this point, I'm kinda glad I didn't.

At some point I may change my mind though.

Cleaned up the Speedworks motor and installed some new caps. Also rewired the 1200scr battery. So other than a body, it's basically done.

Man, even back in the 80's those Tamiya plugs were terrible. I understand the desire to keep it "vintage", but those catch on fire, or at the very least melt.

The car will never see use so it's not an issue. If I were to run it, I would probably hard wire it like I used to. Or old Dean's..... Something period correct.
