Ex Jon Leonard Cat 2000EC
I thought I would share a recent purchase from ebay. I bought this as it looked genuine, and to me was an interesting car.
I raced a few of the old Schumacher cars, and love cars with a race pedigree. This looks like a car that could have been UK team driver Jon Leonard's car. I have attached the pictures below. The car is well worn and many of the screws are stripped, but I am going to try and bring it back to life. The only parts I will need to replace are the front and rear carbon braces, the rest just needs a little tlc. I will post pictures of the car in bits once I take it apart.
Hope it interests a few of you,
Luke

The car has some nice parts on it, but definitely needs some tlc. It looks like it was a team car, but got sold on and abused a fair bit!

Re: Ex Jon Leonard Cat 2000EC
I thought I would post a few more pictures as I strip the car down. The top deck was bent as the rear anti roll bar was squashed between the gear box top and deck. The instructions appear to show it like this but I'm sure it's wrong. The rear brace/wing support bracket is broken and the front kick up plate is de-laminating. I will try and get fibrelyte replacements. The original hex screw are all destroyed. Can you still get these?
The rest of the car looks in good condition. I need to source an undertray, but I think the original body and wing is authentic and has some history so I will keep those.
Hope the pics are interesting,
Luke

You have the alloy front gearbox also. Very nice...
I am not aware of a screw "kit" for the CAT 2000/EC, but you can of course pick them up individually to get what you need.

Those shocks are interesting, the seals don't look like the regular Schumacher purple seals. I wonder what buggy they are from?

I noticed that. They are smooth and a slightly different shape. They are anodized the correct colour so look like schumacher parts.

Re: Ex Jon Leonard Cat 2000EC
The instructions show the anti roll bar under the top deck because the kit plastic gearbox tops have a gap the anti roll bar passes through. The gap isn't there on the alloy gearboxes, and the bar should be fitted on top. I've likely got spare rear shock mount and front caster plates, but they are in the kit grp. All the parts are available in carbon from Fibre-lyte.Luke Burley wrote:The top deck was bent as the rear anti roll bar was squashed between the gear box top and deck. The shock seals are most likely old Schumacher parts. A team drivers car is likely to have prototype versions of parts, or they could be very early production parts that were redesigned.

That's a really cool find Luke, a vintage car complete with some history. I recall Jon always having cool paint schemes, this one definitely appears to be inspired a certain Mr Drescher with the flame layers.

Hi Terry, yes I assumed the roll bar needed to go on the top, I'll rebuild it that way. Thanks for the offer, I went to fibrelyte and then made replacement parts.
The shell is very much a variation of Craig's, on one side at least.
I just need to find an undertray now!

Wow, nice. Now it needs nice electronics.
Try TBG on ebay for the undertray.
