Slotcarrod's RC10 ReRe's
Worlds Car
First off, thank you Team Associated to giving us this!
My intention was to build this car with as many original looking parts as possible just to make it look like an original. Shocks, front axles, rear hubs with 1/4" flanged bearings, universals or MIP CVD's, bulk head and slipper assembly with original top shaft in modern US Stealth. This car will be my runner/racer!
First off the shocks. I had the correct rear bodies but wrong longer front B2/B3 bodies. I hope to find correct .71 bodies soon but will build anyway!
Was going to use RC10 Classic white shock parts but they did not look correct, so I used some originals! Of course I had to use silver aluminium screws!
By now every one knows about the US and China Stealth transmissions, but I will post up some pictures anyway! US top, China bottom, seems fitting! Although I'm sure the US one is contaminated!
Sadly, the US cases are far from perfect!
We all now know about the short poor fitting top shaft in the China Stealth. Well here are more pictures. Just use an old B4 top shaft and your China Stealth will be ok!
Changed over to the old slipper.

Re: Slotcarrod's RC10 ReRe's
I added bearings to the steering. Silky smooth now, this is a must for a racer!
The bulk heads are very different, I need to have the short ears but I want my lipo's to fit! So I will shave the new ears off!

Re: Slotcarrod's RC10 ReRe's
I had a rethink mid build! I'm racing this and want to be some what competitive! The shocks are no change in performance, but the slipper for sure! I would also like to run modern rubber and lipo batteries! So I decided to keep the new rear bulkhead (with mods) and the front and rear axle, and rear upright with CVA's! I used vintage titanium RCPS/Lunsford turn buckles that I had kicking around but was short one 2 inch on the front steering!
Oh well!
Switched to the VTS slipper but the "NEW" slipper cover was not designed with this in mind!
What were you thinking AE? You make a totally new gear cover not to fit your VTS! ???
So I fixed it with a vintage Losi product!

+1! Looks great!marlo wrote:Looking great, I like the shocks better with the "vintage" clamps, and green/black spring set up. The "out of the box way", just looks to cheap!

Love the thinking behind this.. I agree on the shocks looking cheaper than the old shocks.. like the easy adjustability of the new ones though.. I too switched in bearings for my steering as my only upgrade so far.. best upgrade to the car and a must have IMO.. the bushings were way too tight out of the box..

Re: Slotcarrod's RC10 ReRe's
if you run an 8-32 tap through the plastic nut and create the threads before you install them on the chassis, the bushings should work just fine. if you don't do that, the shank on the nut swells up when running them down on the screws and causes a snug fit.hondaman wrote:I too switched in bearings for my steering as my only upgrade so far.. best upgrade to the car and a must have IMO.. the bushings were way too tight out of the box..![]()
i would add bearing anyway, i'm just saying. i have ones with bushings that work just fine.

Re: Slotcarrod's RC10 ReRe's
I thought about that myself instead of making the threads using the bolt.. but I still didn't like the idea of using bushings..scr8p wrote:if you run an 8-32 tap through the plastic nut and create the threads before you install them on the chassis, the bushings should work just fine. if you don't do that, the shank on the nut swells up when running them down on the screws and causes a snug fit.hondaman wrote:I too switched in bearings for my steering as my only upgrade so far.. best upgrade to the car and a must have IMO.. the bushings were way too tight out of the box..![]()

Looks great. Thanks for the write-up and pics.
So this kit comes with full bearings with the exception of the steering, right?

Re: Slotcarrod's RC10 ReRe's
I like that you pointed out the vts slipper setup not working with the new cover...im bummed because that's the direction I was looking to go....maybe associated will hear us and make one. glad to hear that Lunsford is gonna crank out some turnbuckles for this buggy...maybe they will do hinge pins too

do you think its a bad twilight zone episode for team associated to be re producing a buggy from yesteryear that is capable of beating their latest and greatest production buggy?
