Kysoho Vanning red shock color - comparable spray paint?

Post by Meakz1973 »

Hi All,
I'm looking to spray paint a Vanning shock and match as close to the original red annodized color as possible. Just curious if anyone has experience with a paint brand / color that is a very close match?
Thanks

If it's just for looks, Duplicolor MetalCast is the only paint I know of that more or less approximates the look of anodized aluminum.

I personally found this paint a pain in the butt to work with; it can spray thin and spitty, but there's another forum member--can't remember who at this moment--who has done some impressive work using this paint. As far as durability goes, I don't think ANY paint will hold up to the abuse RC cars take...but if it's for the shelf, I guess that won't matter. :)

i 2nd that paint .. its going to scrach off but would work well for a shelf car .. just rember its like a candy colour so the more you add the darker it gets

a trick to get rid of the splater is to put the can in hot water for 15-20 min to help it build pressure and spray from a distance with light coats

I tried the hot water bath too, didn't work. Some paints are spitty no matter what you do. :?

I've had good luck with Tamiya's Clear sprays. I used red on some tecnacraft wheels

Thanks, I like how it turned out and I'm really impressed with the paint. I wasn't brave enough to actually annodize a set of vintage tecnacrafts so i used paint instead. I felt that if I didn't like it, I could alway reverse the process.

Thanks guys,
this is for the shelf. I'll try the Tamiya clear red.
Cheers
