small transtor on brushed motor wires - picts added

i just picked up a pit bag with a ta01 chassy and parts in it

i also found a novak gt7 speed control with a strange curcit board on the motor wires with a transtor on it .. sorry no picts just seeing if you know what its for ?

I believe what you're talking about is the Novak GT7 Schottky diode. From what I read, they incorporated it into the esc wires so customers didn't have to wire one on brushed motors. Post a photo though, just to make sure I'm not misinforming you :wink:

i dont think thats it as its got a big cap on the side of it .. i should have taken a pict of it .. its hard searching for something you have no clue about lol

If its Connected to the blue and red wires it is a diode. A surface mount diode, not usually seen in this application but yeah a diode.

Well, others already nailed it down for you, so all I can add is this:

Just because it looks like a transistor doesn't mean that's what it is. You can always google the MPN and get the tech specs/MSDS for the component. That Schottkey looks to be in a standard TO-220/263 housing, which is also used for many transistors, rectifiers, amplifiers and voltage regulators.
