12L, 12LW, 12LS, 12LC, 12L3, 12L4

Post by RC10th »

This has been on the back burner for some time now as I've been trying to finish off a couple of stadium trucks. I though I'd start a new thread as this doesn't really pertain to my other thread.

I finally got off my butt and glued up some foams, dug out the old tire truer and finished off the wheels for the 12LC. I'm finally at the point where all the missing parts searches and chaotic parts piles have come to an end, finally over the hill so to speak.

I still need to find a donor 12L which I can now concentrate on. I wouldn't mind also finding a 12i or 12e to round out the lineup.

I guess we'll start with the earliest complete car that I have, the 12LW. I'll add the 12L later when I find one.

Fantastic collection! I'm liking that 12L4. 8) I'm still fooling with the early cars at this point but will move up eventually.

Thanks, I like the early cars too and will eventually acquire them. I've been drooling over yours for a while now. I've seen a couple fairly nice "e's" and "i's" go on ebay but were unfortunately at the wrong time for me to buy. A 12R5 would be nice too as it completes the late side but I'm not feeling it and can't bring myself to buy one.

I have a complete set of new carbon and most metal bits for the 12L but need a donor for the plastics. You might know, did all 12L's have thrust bearings on the axles or did the late production (pre LW) cars not have them?

Thanks mate! I've always loved the 12E and I series of cars. I've been lucky to score the few that I have.

Unfortunately I'm not schooled on the newer cars so I can't answer your question on the thrust bearings. Hopefully someone in the know will chime in.

Swweeet 12's 8) you have any bodies for those? I know early 12's are had to come by :(

My 12L's came with thrust bearings, not sure about the e's and i's.

Where's Kent? I know he'd enjoy seeing these 8)

I do have some bodies but nothing I really want to use for them since being restored. I think I have a new body for the L4 stuffed away somewhere. Finding the (P35?) for the L3 shouldn't be too hard. Dunno what to put on the LC but I think I'll have to get the TBG Corvette bodies for the LS and LW and something earlier like the Jag from TBG for the 12L, or Bolinks 1/12 GTP body.

Looking to start collecting bodies for these and after some advice. Would you use TBG reproductions or are originals still floating around? What bodies would be correct and what should be on what? This is what I was thinking.

12L - Associated Nissan GTP
12LW - Associated GTP Corvette
12LS - Associated GTP Corvette
12LC - Protoform P-35
12L3 - Protoform P-35
12L4 - Protoform Speed 12

I'd like to pick up two Parma Osellas for future 12i and e

Hi RC10th,

Isn't it #3174 Nissan GTP-90 on the cover of both 12LW and 12LS manual?
Why Corvette GTP? It's nice yes but is it "correct"
