Regional A final wanna-be
Regional A final wanna-be
Well, I've decided to build it, a tub RC10 that I'm going to try and get into a regional A final (and our region is very competative).
I got this off the bay a few weeks ago, and it seems the perfect car to start with:

That's indeed a very good start, I love the Fybre-Lite stuff. Keep us posted

Re: Regional A final wanna-be
It's got:
Fibre-Lyte towers and tranny brace
MIP ball-raced steering
Titanium (not sure of make) turnbuckles
Hydra drive - very leeky, not sure if this will stay
Shiney CVD's, but 1/4" axles I'll fit 3/16"
Whats planned:
Threaded shocks
Titanium ball studs
Losi natural HD ball ends
Losi pistons
Losi springs?
Truck rear uprights
B2 3/16" CVD's
Brushless system
B4 wheels maybe...
Looking forward to running this

Re: Regional A final wanna-be
Does anyone know what castor blocks were mainly used for racing? 20, 25 or 30 degrees?

Re: Regional A final wanna-be
Your turnbuckles look like RCPS, the ones Brian Kinwald used on his black tub.
and I think the 25° castor block were the stock ones, not sure about this, but you may try several set-ups before having the right steering, the good old trial and error method... those tubs do not steer as well as modern cars, but I'm sure you'll be able to make a pretty good result with it if you dial it right. Good luck and have fun building it. If you don't need the shiny CVD's, I could use them, drop me a PM

Good luck with that Northy
Do the guys on oople know your plans yet...I'm sure some of them will want to share their opinions
Looking forward to see what you can achieve with it.

Re: Regional A final wanna-be
I've not mentioned it on oOple yet, keeping it a bit of a secret
Not sure what I'll do with the parts left over, I don't normally part with anything

Re: Regional A final wanna-be
Hydradrive spares are still available from Horizon Hobby, including a rebuild kit. I know http://www.eamodels.co.uk have the full set of hydradrive fluids, they tried selling them to me last time I visited them. I'd keep it on there even if it was enpty, I'm sure it would psych out a lot of the newer racers.Northy2 wrote: Hydra drive - very leeky, not sure if this will stay

Re: Regional A final wanna-be
northy, instead of getting a complete b2 cvd kit, you could just get the 3/16" axles for the ones you already have. just an idea........................
Re: Regional A final wanna-be
Good call Scr8p!
Mmmm, I'm thinking of replacing all the white suspension parts with black parts, I'd hate to brake a white part

Re: Regional A final wanna-be
I'd tend to take the Hydra off.. It won't need it on modern tracks and it adds a whole lot to the rotating mass of the tranny blunting acceleration and braking. They are a good thing but on high traction tracks just not necessary..
Good luck with it though mate, it's a ballsy thing to do!
