Questions re: front end options

Building a runner and I'm a bit confused as to front end options

I see from time to time an RC10T/Masami Stealth style (with the support posts going through the shock tower) - do you then use the RC10T kickplate and longer arms up front? Or can you just use the standard arms? Do I need a certain steering kit and longer shocks to do this?

Also what are the pros/cons of a setup like this in terms of handling?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but my google fu couldn't really find it

I will just be using the basic JCRacing 5 spoke wheels so I don't need to worry about hex conversions/weird axles etc.
