Price Gouging- ASC6614 Idler gears
Price Gouging- ASC6614 Idler gears
Not sure where my original post went off top....seems to have been deleted.
Anyhow, looking options on where to buy the ASC6614 for a reasonable cost. Back in December I bought a set for $7.99 which while above List price seemed reasonable for a NOS part. Now they are one Ebay for $18-$25 a set. Seriously...5X the original cost is obserd.
I am in the process of restoring a full scale '84 Audi Quattro Coupe (1 of 64 imported in '84) and finding NOS is tough but doable and the dealers don't gouge the pricing at all.
I find it rude that someone in the community would take such measures to make an extra buck.
Cheers,
Jim

...in dec they were still available. Now they are discontinued. I paid $40 for a few white ball cups once. That was far from my most ludicrous overpayment as well. When associated discontinued stuff, it gets expensive
Here is a set on Amazon for $25 Plus shipping...

i'd tell you to buy a stealth, but half of that crap is discontinued too.
there a place in england that'll sell you steel ones for like $15. or just make your own out of some 6 gear outdrives.

Out drives are discontinued as well, but once you find a set they should last for a while! Probably easy to find worn out ones since your cutting off the cups anyway.
Going stealth is obviously a better option unless he is keeping it period correct. I have seen a few stealths for very little money on the bay lately.

it was moved because it had an eBay link, a complaint, and a rant all at the same time. We have places for all of those things, but its not in the RC10 section. I apologize in advance if you offended by parts that were discoed 25 years ago are more than retail. Wait it out until you find ones that fit your budget, that's always an option-LJH wrote:Not sure where my original post went off top....seems to have been deleted.

They've been selling for that cheap for a long time. Just depends on how pretty you want it to look

Why is everyone so down on the 6 gear? Build it right, put in steel idlers, and you've got a reliable, low-maintenance transmission that's actually rather efficient. The hardest part is de-burring the old gears.
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

Re: Price Gouging- ASC6614 Idler gears
on the topic of idlers. RW Racing does have some 6 gear and stealth idlers. I asked about buying but no reply.
aside for him, i havent seen any idlers for the 6 gear anywhere. I know they are disc but was there any aftermarket supplier that still has them?
