Custom painting

Post by bow2986 »

Hi, is there a custom painter you would reccommend to do a nice job on rc10 shell. I have PM'd several but get no response, I know it's hard to get work done at this time of year. I don't want anything fancy . Also do you guys run your car with a front bumper, I'm not the best driver and if there is any thing to hit I usually do, the front arms look very vulnerable to snap if I was to hit something. Is there an after market bumper to fit the RC10? I live in Australia and would hate to rip an arm off and have a two or more weeks wait for parts so if you know where I might get a new bumper please let me know, thank you
Mick
Ps.I am not sure if I am breaking any forum rules or guidelines posting this thread, I hope not, thanks

no worry...no rules broken.

I had a link to a painters facebook page, website and he also had some stuff up at a forum that seem to no longer be active but can't find any of it. You can try going to facebook and looking up MelsShells and you should be able to see his stuff and be able to contact him. If I can find a link I'll drop it back in here too. Does great work and can do just about anything from basic to fancy. There are a few around this board also that are pretty handy with an airbrush that might be able to chime in.

Bumpers...yes and no. Ebay would be your best bet for finding one if you decide to go with a bumper or you could get a newer rpm wide bumper for a b4 and drill a few new holes to make it work.

Good luck Mick.

Hi Todd, thanks for the reply, this car is becoming obsessive to me. I have been looking a pics right through the forum. Scr8p does some great work....I'm like most on here, buy an old rc10, become obsessed with it, buy a heap of spare parts try and upgrade everything. I have just brought some Lohas "dazzle" for it and over all my rc10 is in good condition, I don't want to spoil it with a bodgey paint job from me, thanks mate
Mick
Ps Any painters out there want some cash, it's a very simple paint scheme I am after, thank you

know what you mean. Got quite a few projects waiting for paint. Problem is I can paint but finding the time is the other issue...let alone ambition  . The other problem is when I start something simple I get tons of ideas and before long its a complicated, crappy job I end up with :? .

Found some of the links I was after...
Mels Shells facebook page
More pix of his stuff
Mels Shells on rctech.net

If someone around here doesn't get back with you I'm sure Carmel will. There is alot of talent around this board also so give it some time here too. Someone around here might be interested too.

Todd

p.s. No, I'm not a paid spokesperson for Mel's Shells...just a happy customer of a really cool guy to deal with 8)
