Question: Kyosho Nitro Circuit 1000 to Electric work?
So I've always loved these buggies but getting an electric one always shoots past my budget. I've seen some nitros go cheaper and wondered what would be involved in converting a Nitro to electric?

Do you plan on using the same gearbox and motor location (front to back vs. sideways)?
I have a couple of the Rowdy Baja / Bluebird / Challenger 1/8 buggys and I was thinking of a brushless conversion for one of them. I was going to use the same set up including the clutchbell piece that comes out of the gearbox. Essentially, the brushless motor will sit in the exact same location as the nitro. Just need to figure out if the brushless motor can handle this since there is very little gear reduction.
If you're going to replace the gearbox, then it might get costly looking for the electric components.

Re: Question: Kyosho Nitro Circuit 1000 to Electric work?
If you can make a plate that bolts to the chassis/trans in the same fashion the engine did, you should be able to install a brushless motor. Those circuit buggies are 1/10 or 1/8? I know the 1/8 scale brushless systems are a little pricey. You'll take out the 4 cell receiver pack and gas tank, and hopefully, that makes enough room for a battery pack. One thing you can look into is the shorty pack for the losi 22(if they are 1/10 scale)

I beleive the 1000 series is the 1/10 scale (advance & assault) but the 1/8 scale versions had the same setup...just bigger.

You should be able to convert an Advance or Assault to electric with just the motor plate, cover, counter gear, and center gear from a Scorpion, Beetle, etc.
The gearbox cases are a little different but you should be able to mount the motor plate to the right side of the Advance/Assault case. You'll also need to remove the rear frame rails and the old counter gear box from the opposite side of the case.
