Sarik named company made SWB MID undertrays. It was not "full lenght" undertray so chassis areas below diffs were not covered.

One possibility is just to make one from flat lexan and then cut, bend, cut more, bend more and use some tape to keep bended areas lifted.

That would probably be OK from a functional perspective but I'm aiming for something a little more elegant for my shelfer

Trying to shorten a LWB undertray would probably work out better than trying to bend a flat sheet

You know, undertrays really were designed to keep debris out during track time. Would you really need one on a car that which was not standard which will only sit atop a shelf?
Not kicking tyres here, but maybe you really want to get this Mid of yours back out on to the track at some point?

Good point, that is why I would buy more than one undertray :-)

There is also a bit of a theme to this particular shelfer

Aside form HCP remaking his trays, cutting up a LWB one to fit would not be that difficult I think. It would basically be like doing a chop or section on a hot rod. Make a straight cut perpendicular to the car's centerline, and then nest the back piece into the front. Slide it forward until it suits the chassis length...

That might work if the SWB body has the same angles as the LWB undertray. I have a few samples of each at home so I might try it out after work (if I still remember this topic) 8)

It would be great if you could do that because I was thinking just the same thing but don't have access to a SWB shell to compare against

Okay, mission accomplished! Pushed the LWB under tray forward in the SWB body shell and the angles are slightly different but may work with some Velcro perhaps?

Something...like this?

http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=21530&start=104

While it's not a full under-tray, it at least protects the underside. The design is simple yet effective, but the one thing I'm re-working is the number of holes needed to insert screws into. The design I came up with for Barney has no less than 12 holes in it....aligning all those holes perfectly can be a royal PITA. I'm thinking of something simpler for CYANide.

P.S. This is my design but I had help from ROH73 to make this. Thanks!
Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid
Gallery - Coel's Stalls: Marui Galaxy & Shogun Resto-Mods | FrankenBuff AYK Buffalo | 1987 Buick GNX RC12L3

Joop: if you pull the undertray away from the body a little so there is less overlap is the angle mismatch reduced?

Coalacanth: That was a pretty cool idea for the Optima

Have you had a chance to see if you still have the mold?
