Help - RC10 Graphite Wheels/Tires don't fit together

Post by limestang »

HELP!!! Hoping someone can advise on which part is wrong. I have purchased Associated #6802 Rear Dished Wheels, and Associated #6821H tires (Same style as shown in photo). The diameter of the tire and wheel match, BUT the tire bead is too narrow for the 6802 wheels. I've compared the bead width of other RC10 tires that fit the wheels, and they are wider. I am completely stumped on this - Do I have the wrong wheels or the wrong tires? The parts came NIP. Thanks Limestang

The attached photo shows a TQ-22 tire from an RC10 Champion edition (right side), which mounts correctly. On the left side is the TQ-21 (#6821H), on the same wheel - The tire bead is too narrow for the wheel, and doesn't come close to fitting. The second photo shows how the tire bead is wider on the TQ-22 tire.

Pull/stretch the tire to meet the outside lip of the wheel. The tire will be wider than the wheel which is normal
If things seem under control, you are just not going fast enough.

you don't have the bead seated in the rim. the tire is wider than the rim.

Ok, not having any luck using just my hands, and screw driver was putting quite a bit of stress on the tires. I searched my garage and found the perfect tool - I used a paint can opening to gently coax the bead into the right position and It WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really didn't think it would fit. Thanks very much for the advise and photos. One Mystery solved......
