Is there a comprehensive list of tires that fit the "jelly bean" wheels?

Post by dallarax19 »

I am new to the forum and have not yet figured out how the search works so I am reaching out to the crowd. Tried to filter by tires but says the topic is too broad.

Any case, I am in the final stages of a resto and need tires. With that said I have trolled ebay and see what is there but the rear tires seem to be a challenge. I am looking for a cross reference of which tires fit the rims by any manufacturer. It will be an occasional runner so I don't have to have 6800 or 6815 tires.

Tamiya Hornet tires could be a good fit for the rear jelly bean wheels. TAM9805034
Frankensteined RC10T3 / Franky Jr RC10GT-e (x2) / A+ stamp / Toy Story RC / Graphite replica / B1.5 BFG 5LTi / Clonewald / Hyper Hornet

I believe that the Kyosho Mud Star tires fit as well. But they are probably just as expensive as RC10 tires.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

I'm not exactly sure what size the jellybean wheels were considered, but some of these Duratrax tires would work.

The 1.6" rear size is what you're looking for. The Kyosho KYOOTT243M from the Optima (not turbo optima and not optima mid) is another option. KYOOTT243M. They are also used on the Javelin.

Thank you for the comments!! I do not have expertise with these cars and cannot confirm the following but this what I believe to be correct:

PLEASE CORRECT ME ON ANY INCORRECT INFORMATION BELOW

"Jelly Bean" Wheels
Rear Diameter = 1.6"
Front Diameter = 1.9"

Associated Rear Tire Number: 6815
Associated Front Tire Number: 6865, 6868(not 100% sure if these are for the Jelly bean wheels)

From the car I have it looks like the tires that are on the wheels are from the Grasshopper so I suspect the Grasshopper, Hornet, and maybe Subaru/Champ tires may fit. I see this topic has come up several times and can piece together what people "think" will work but was hoping to get feedback from people that have actually done the substitutions. CRP, Parma, Proline, Tamiya, Schumacher, Yokomo, HPI,IMEX there has to be cross substitutions.

YES!!
**Thank you for the Duratrax add - that is gold.

For reference this is the car - a buddy gave it to me - he has found the original wheels and I should have those in hand soon as well

Now it looks like this (two days of simple green/ Wesleys Bleche Whit and a heated ultrasonic cleaner):

You did a great job on the cleanup of that car. It looks pretty fantastic.

Thanks everyone for the comments. This leads to that and I am seeing some options based on the leads yall have provided.

Not proven but these may be options as well.

I think this is a winner for current options. I want some stuff out of Japan anyway so this may be the tipping point to pull the trigger.

I always thought Jellybean rears were 1.6 and the fronts 1.9. I see JConcepts referencing 1.7 for the rear though. It's possible that they are 1.65

I'm sure it's elsewhere but the J-Concepts tires do not properly mount to jellybean wheels.

That wheel is listed on page 56 of the original associated manual as a direct fit for the RC10 wheels

there is a neat resource here that show diameter and width of tamiya tires.
It looks like rough rider tires may work as well
