my dad's sprinter

Post by kaiser »

this is my pops sprinter. it's had a long life, been through many hands and eventually found it's way home a couple of years ago.
the guy my dad bought it from said it was a big boy's toys, but looks more like an ascot to me.

what is it? (sorry for the crappy iphone pics)

Looks like a RBS super sprint conversion 8)
If things seem under control, you are just not going fast enough.

That's pretty damn cool that you got it back after it changed hands a few times. Special, really.

it's very special to me, my dad passed last year from cancer, this car is one of the few things i have that remind me of him.

Can I get an ID on that sprint car body por favor?

The one I tried out for my RBS Sprinter came up over an inch short and since Kaiser's sprinter looks awesome and the body fits like a glove I don't see a point experimenting with anything else. :D

i wish i could help, i have no idea. my dad didn't even build it, he bought off a racer (it was a points champion and current leader at the time, 1990ish)

i just maintaned it for him and installed the mip gearbox. the rear section is missing all together it was there the last time i saw it before i found it again.
i would assume it's a mcallister body as that's what the track stocked back then and it was built all form parts from that one shop/track.

I kinda hope it is a McAllister since he might still have the mold to pull a body from.

I think Gary McAllister has all his old molds on a shelf. Great person to deal with, too.

Not sure but don't think it's a McAllister but here is a page with some of his sprint bodies:

Finally found out that the body is made by TMS and is called the Gambler....like the McAllister sprint car body.

Stumbled across the catalog in the Scans Archive while looking for pics of the TMS-ST pan car chassis.

It is in fact a Gambler body. I had 3 NIP. I've been trying to get some interest in having some reproduced. I think I'm down to one body left. I'm not touching it till I know it can be replaced. I also have a couple NIP Protoform sprint car bodies. Very nice car you have there. Cool you got it back!

I can replace it.....though it wouldn't be with another Gambler body.

I'm not sure when the Protoform bodies came out but were they made to fit the same era sprint cars (BBT, Ascot, RBS) or were they more shaped to fit the Custom Works sprinters?
