Optima Mid Body Q

Post by scootmike »

Okay, picked up an Optima Mid, pretty rough body.
Is there any other bodies that will fit?
I do have some older bodies from the 80's new in bags.
Will a standard Optima body fit? Always liked the looks of the original Optima.
Anybody use a different body on there Mid?
Thanks
Mike

Congrats on the MID -
Personally I think that the optima body doesn´t belong on the mid.
If its a repro optima body then go ahead, but if it´s original please put it on an Optima.
There´s some nice repro MID bodys out there, but if You want something special, Parma made a cool body "Tomcat" for the Mid, which also can be found as a repro.

I second that (Dennis)...MarwanRC has nice original reproductions so you can save the nice Optima body. I just got a kit from him and am working on it now.

I think I'm going to go with an aftermarket body, really don't care for the Mid body.
I'm trying to find pics of Mids with different bodies on them with no wing.
Anybody running a non stock body?
Mike

Know I'm leaning towards a repo body.
I just did some reading on the Marwin repo's for the mid, has anybody had trouble getting the shell to sit straight?
Is it just a matter of trimming?
Are the quality of the decals decent?
Thanks
Mike

The one I got from him seems fine; Just a matter of trimming.

Decals could stand to be a bit more sticky. Did start to peel up a little for me and another guy on here.

I have read somewhere that the decals were peeling a bit.
I'm going to order soon and see how they work out.
