Hello,
I'm hoping one of yous can help me get this job off the ground, being a bit of traditionalist (or just plain boring!?!) having finally after 18 months got my hands on an original 1986 SWB C.A.T in near mint condition I want to restore her to what me & all my mates drooled over every weekend in Howes model shop, Oxford back in the late '80's = the best true white bodied box art copy.
I'm hoping someone can help me get started & heres what (I think) I need..
* decent scan of all panels on the box, I can't see the top of car.
* Any magazine articals / pics of this original box art shown below.
* Need some battery clips, any ideas ?!?
* what type of motor would this have ran back in the day?
All I can offer is big thanks & that I'll post images as she's restored..
MASSIVE thanks to anyone who can help.
Lofty.
'86 SWB CAT *** BOX ART **** Your help needed please
Re: '86 SWB CAT *** BOX ART **** Your help needed please
If you look at the box carefully, you'll see that there are two different paint schemes used. The one on the top of the box is different to the one on the side of the box (see left-hand-side of the side panel of the box in the picture you have posted). Which box art are you aiming to do? I think the one on the side of the box requires less decals...(I've never seen a box-art set of decals so I expect you will need to make your own).

if memory doesn's fail me the top of the body was painted to simulate a roll cage or glass roof = part over the driver is left unpainted
can't check it right now but will try to find the box/instructions …
on my C.A.T. the roof is painted, because I didn't care about box art and didn't want to add (and paint) the drivers figure

Cheers guys, it's the front panel box image I'm going to go for, just getting graphics drawn out for decals as looks like it'll have to be from scratch - from what I can tell there isn't a boxart SWB CAT (posted as an image on the web) or on any rc blog anywhere in the world (gawd knows I've spent alot of hours searching) !??!..
Paul A, think you right about the glass roof effect, see below, not sure where these red block graphics have originated though?
