- Box-art TOP CAT -
Here's a couple of pics from my new built Top Cat painted just like the box-art scheme. Gotta love the Top Cat, it was my second real racing car

Thanks for the comments guys!
Steve, the body, wing and driver come directly out from the original box which I still have together with the manual...

Re: - Box-art TOP CAT -
Are the O-rings for front hurts and wing still Ok after all these years ?
It was also my first racing car... it is now completely impossible to find a top cat in this condition.
I kept the box about 10 year to carry my tires on race tracks. I remember very well this paint scheme. Again a wonderfull car for your collection. Thanks for sharing.
Tranny /drive axles / front suspension makes this car so unique !

Re: - Box-art TOP CAT -
I have another quesiton.
As afore mentioned, the O ring that holds the front arms, are they easy to replace?
Mine busted and I have a new pack of them but have not attempted to change it yet. ( But will get to it over this holiday )
Thanks..

Re: - Box-art TOP CAT -
@ Peuge73: thanks for the comments and compliments, and yes the o-rings are still in good shape after all these years. I remember when I was racing my Top Cat back in the day that we quickly replaced the stock rubber o-rings with more common and stronger rubbers, and in the end most of the racers ended-up blocking the anti-crash system with 2 screws and a brace because the car was more predictable without the system, but then also more prone to break. A few months later, the "Cougar" front end with upright shocks was already available as a hop-up, the very unique lay down shock set-up had (unfortunately) a really quick life...Prince Steve wrote:I have another quesiton.

@ PrinceSteve: they are quite easy to replace, you just need to unbolt the upper plate from the front end and reinstall them.

Stunning Top Cat Asso!
I have 3 Topcat's plus some spares. I love these cars and who wouldn't? Schumacher's first 'real' 2WD buggy. I loved them back in the day and still love them and race one regularly today. Not the very best 2WD ever made but certainly the most original.
Keep up the great work!

Re: - Box-art TOP CAT -
Droooool!
How gorgeous is that! Loving the box art scheme & the painted driver. The Top Cat was my 2nd proper R/C race car too.... unfortunately all I have left is the box
I too also had problems trying to get the front end to work - in fact for me it was the 'peg' in the bulkhead that the crashback bands were wrapped around that kept breaking. I ended up dumping the front end & fitting the suspension off the racer I had previous, a Mardave Meteor (very simple british made 2wd RC10 esque' buggy) The car evolved eventually into a Cougar - like so many Top Cats did.
Would love to try one again & see if I could make the suspension work, now that i'm older and have a bit more technical no-how.

Re: - Box-art TOP CAT -
Ive been running a Topcat for the past 3 years at vintage events and up until recently had trouble getting the thing to corner. I worked out by running the optional rear sway bar, narrower front end, less rear droop, shorter wheelbase rear arms and moving my saddle pack lipo's together and further forward the car drives like a dream! The car will never recover well from large jumps as the ratio of the rockers was a design fault (in my opinion) but it does fly lever and is quite fast now. It actualy drives as well as my Cougar2.
Re: - Box-art TOP CAT -
Do you run the steering geometery kit as well? I want to run mine at VONATS and to be honest the tight indoor track FRIGHTENS ME! If I cant get the thing to turn I'll be eating dust!
