Indoor, on-road track surface?

I've been contemplating making a small 1/12 scale on-road track in my basement. I've got plenty of room for a small track with 4' wide lanes. My basement floor is concrete and I don't wanna spend too much $ on carpet so I was thinking about painting my basement floor with high-grip floor paint. I've found a few at Lowe's but was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of paint on another low cost solution.

I have ran on concrete painted with that traction paint, its hell on tires but not bad at all-

Rubberised driveway sealer is what we used years ago.Just clean the concrete maticulously let dry then apply where you want and let dry.DON

We used roofing felt paper to make a track in a mall one time. It worked pretty well, but it didn't hold up too well with all the turn marshal activity. Other solutions are better I'm sure, but this could be the cheapest way if you just wanted to give the track a trial run.

Cool... I'm bout to get started soon. I do have 1 long gap in the floor where the concrete seperates. Any ideas on filling that first? I did run a car over it and you can't even tell it's there but I'd like to fill it anyway if there is a quick fix for it.

quick crete has a hole host of stuff. Look under patch crete ,some of there stuff is self leveling but that does not mean that you will not have to get down and tool it . If it is too big of a gap then Use concrete or shink grout ,and a acrilic additive

The onroad track in Shreveport was once a skating rink and they coated it with an asphalt roof sealant. I don't know if it would stick to the concrete though...

As for the expansion joint in your floor, I'd definitely use something that is pliable so that it doesn't defeat the purpose of that joint

If you buy the white elastometric roof sealant its not bad either. By the 5 gal. buckets its around $70 near me. Dries to a rubber like surface that would stick good and brightens up a basement .

you could tennis court paint. lowes sells it i think they call it "skid not". i was told this is what is used alot in the uk when they run on converted wharehouse floors. i found it on schumacher's uk forum when Birdsboro was looking for new paint but it was really expensive.

Yup. The cement floor is already painted gray. And other than the tennis court paint, the paint I was looking at using is high grip floor paint made for cement floors. It's an unfinished basement and my man-cave with nothing down there but my stuff and my workshop. Besides, the wife gave the OK multiple times so... I'm good!

I did a job 2 years ago were we put in a tennis court. The 'paint ' that we used had ground silicon and latex added to a acrilic paint, cool stuff butt $$$. If the paint on the floor now is not epoxy and you use a 2 part garage floor paint you will have a mess.
