Aluminum shell for RC10?
Did any manufacturer ever make a full aluminum body? Not that it would have been practical back in the day with weight being such a solid factor, but I'm curious. There were so many ridiculous parts made for it you just never know.

That would be interesting,I would think it would have to be as thin as a coke can and would dint up bad in a crash, just imagine what you car would look like at the end of a race day, could be a new class,rc demolition derby

Wow, I thought it'd just be thick and heavy, but you're right! It would be so impractical and yet so awesome all dinged up. Especially if I was driving it!vintage racer wrote:That would be interesting,I would think it would have to be as thin as a coke can and would dint up bad in a crash, just imagine what you car would look like at the end of a race day, could be a new class,rc demolition derby.

There was a person making aluminum bodies for a while (recently) but I don't know if they still do as they were getting a lot of bad criticism. An RC10 one would be interesting.

Just curious, what was the criticism for? Quality or durability? Happen to have any pics or links of any models that are offered? Orrrrr, just pics of models period? I mean hey, I got 3 minutes...Lowgear wrote:There was a person making aluminum bodies for a while (recently) but I don't know if they still do as they were getting a lot of bad criticism. Re: Aluminum shell for RC10?
They were like aluminum foil and required a lot of finishing to be able to use them in any way.
Look at that... A quick Google search brought the site up: http://aluminumrcbodies.com

I certainly can't speak for their quality, but for $60 or so it would look really cool on a shelf queen!Lowgear wrote:They were like aluminum foil and required a lot of finishing to be able to use them in any way.

EDIT: as an afterthought, you think an RC10 model would be a no-brainer if you look at his selection.

i'd love some scaler buggy / trophy bodies in thicker aluminium. not really worried how it affects handling, personally i like scale looks and scale weight
