Gold pan whole lotta metal build.

Post by askbob »

Thanks to transamman for the great car to start off with. It has bee a long time since I've had an RC-10 in hand. They seem so much smaller now! :o
I'm going to attempt a mostly metal replacement part build as I can using the gold theme, but with a little something different mixed in. Mostly a car for fun, but something I can run hard around the track too. My original intent was to build a modern day racer, but nobody races this class of car anywhere near where I live. Gold pan, Atlas gold aluminum parts, stealth aluminum trans case, the remaining plastic parts dyed black, gold shocks with bare aluminum collars and perches, gray or silver springs(opinions or pics please), carbon fiber front and rear shock towers along with the engine brace, aluminum bell cranks, Ti turnbuckles, Lohas hurricane wheels, custom painted body and wing, brushless setup, etc. I'll post pics as I go along and look forward to everyones input!

Here is what I'm starting with:

Guessing you saw my gold shelfer build? Also, I'm pretty close to posting pics of my modern racer build with 2.2" tires (hint: it uses some metal parts, too).

Bob, give us some more background on this car- box pics, manual and flyers etc. Did it come to you unassembled or just new built etc....there are a few things about it that I would like to know more about ( to verify a production variation )

Thanks!

The car came to me assembled. Hopefully transamman can chime in for possibly a little more background. It looks to have been run very little. I have it down to the bare bones now, and even the inside of the trans looks barely used. Until recently, I wasn't aware there were so many little variations of the original car. Is this, Champion Edition, the first car with wide front arms? Here are a few pics. If you need anymore, let me know.

The end panel on the box was missing when I got it so not to much info there. I did not build this so can't be for sure what was changed if anything. I thought that The worlds nose, arms and pro-line front tires was kind of unique. I don't beleive they were changed out since new, but can't be certain.

Thanks Eddie! Did you change the arms? I have a 6036 that came like this one as well with the later box too.

What do you mean when you say 'worlds cut nose'? Is it how the nose piece is done, or how the pan is cut near the front?

Where the part of the nose plate that attaches to the chassis is cut at an angle and comes to a point instead of straight across.

The thing that was interesting to me about this CE is that I remember seeing some late team cars with this arrangement but I have not opened one from nip and seen this personally

I did not change the arms and do beleive they came with this car new. Very interesting indeed. I've also had all black parts when opening a nib kit and even got the letter in box describing how there was a part change.
