Does anyone else remember...

Post by Erich Reichert »

Maybe I'm really starting to lose it but does anyone else remember Tamiya making static models of guns? I want to say it was around 87/88ish. I remember the Hobbytown I went to had them next to the r/c cars and the one that sticks out was an AK47. They had little bullets that went in the clip and everything from what I remember but I have never been able to even find mention of them online anywhere. Does anyone else remember these?

I don't remember Tamiya doing it, but there was a company that was John-something that made some super realistic cap guns that still had magazines and bullets-

Hey Erich, I can't remember what I had for supper last night but I do remember a long time ago that a couple of the local mom&pop hobby shops had a display of static guns that could be ordered. Can't put a handle on if it was tamiya or not but I do remember the display. I was more into the slot cars at that time and the display displaced a bunch of parts so it wasn't good attention I was giving it at that time is why I remember them I guess  . Someone around here will have to remember them or who made them though...

I vaguely remember some company making models of guns like the AK-47, M16, etc...but I don't recall it being Tamiya.

Maybe it was marui. I know the shop carried them too. I'm not completely positive who made them but they were pretty real looking (hence they stopped making them lol)

I was thinking Marui myself, because when I was researching & restoring that Marui Galaxy, I learned that Marui made a lot of air guns and one of them even might've been named Galaxy, too.
