Yokomo 870C - Masami style NIB build project documentation

Post by phoenix »

Hi all,

you knew this had to happen sometime :). I thought i cannot leave this kit sitting around in the garage and have therefore chosen to start a build project that i'll document as far as possible for the past.

I am starting with a new original YZ-10 kit (e.g. 870C U.S. version), a nicely Masami-Style painted body from Vincent and a few option parts (topdeck, steering brace, longer steering posts, pink wheels and such). There are more parts to come that i have not pictured yet, i am quite sure to add teflon coated associated shocks and maybe the long arms rear end. Electronics-wise a matching new reedy motor with green label is already eager to meet it's magnesium motor mount.

So here are the pics to start this off:

When I was a kid, my LHS had one of these kits for sale for years but I could never afford it.

It's nice to see such a clean example to bring back some memories.

That's what i had in mind first :) But i will be too time consuming to repro the chassis or to get hold of one.

I used WD-40 and sometimes oil on all steel parts in the kit.

I opted for the all time 4wd config and put the one-way in the spare parts box :)
