I've got my car back together. I think it is a CE, it has a stealth trans. I am using 2.1" rear 3piece wheels with losi tires. I put in a modern 27t stock motor(one of the unlabeled epic handout types)
What is a good gearing to use for general around the yard bashing?
I'e got 78 and 87t spurs and most pinions from 12-25.
Thanks,
-Anthony
I don't have much experience with stock motors in the RC10 series, having run Mods. Gearing for just playing around with a stock motor, I would go with the 87 spur/12 pinion for maximum run time. Make sure you monitor motor, speed control, and battery heat.
Otherwise just gear to get a 4 - 4 and 1/2 minute run time if you wanna play the way we did back when.
12 teeth seems very low to me.
I'd start in the high teens and you'll probably end up in the low 20's with the larger spur gear. You may even get into the mid 20's.
not that i would ever put an 87 on a buggy, it's a little overkill ( in my opinion ). but if your limited to an 87 and a 78 spur, i'd use the 87 and somewhere near the mid 20's for a pinion.
the only time i used an 87 spur on my 2.25 car, it had a 36 pinion on it. now, that was running d.o., though. the motor just seemed to like the big gears.

Depends on the run time desired, I've run a 93/12 with a 19 turn mod for long run times.
I have a Worlds Car that i've re-built & have fitted a 6.5 brushless set-up into it (LRP Sphere & Hacker 6.5 motor) I've tested it out in the street & seems pretty rapid!
I intend to race it at the local track which run 5min qualifying & finals,...

Now for my .02.......
I run a 6.5 in a 4wd buggy. There's no way I'd even consider it in a 2wd buggy. For most tracks I don't go below an 8.5 in my B4. If you've seen the 2wd modified race I posted in the Florida racing thread, my son is running a...
I'm not in a super rush as I waiting for a package from AE to replace my incorrectly machined CV. I have my sidewinder 3 4600 kv combo here for my re-re worlds and I'm wondering where I should start pinion wise. The spur is the kit one and I'm...

AE is sneaky. I gave them my home shipping address for the replacement CV. I expected it to come to the house but nope, it just showed up at work today. Guess they looked up my email since I used my work one to make contact and got the shipping from...
I've got a CE with a 2.25 Stealth coming in the mail and am going to be setting it up for my son. Can you guys suggest a starting point for gearing a silver can RS-540?
Thanks!

I've been running my 6 gear at 20/81 and it seems about right. The motor does get very hot after a 20-30 min run. I've been running the car with 25c-50c 2s lipo packs. It's funny , I had a 10.5 brushless in the car and now have the slowest motor I...
As the title states, I am looking for a starting point for a 14T double. I'm running an 81T spur and the car will be run a very tight track with one long straight.
Thanks.

With 81 tooth spur start with 13 or 14 tooth pinion and run for 3 minutes and check temps,if around 55 -60 degrees Celsius go smaller if under 50 degrees Celsius let cool and run full five minutes and check final temps again..
I've tried searching and couldn't seem to track down the answer.
So could anyone recommend what pinion to run on my 10.5?
I'm running the stealth box and the B4 slipper with 81t spur, also got 2.2 rims, any ideas?!
Thanks :D

Think I've got it sorted now.
I know what works on my B4 so have worked it backwards using:
spur divided by pinion multiplied by gearbox ratio = FDR
So I will be trying a 21t pinion with my 81t spur. :D
This one is the quickest restoration project I’ve actually done in a while… 3 weeks from receiving the box to hitting the racetrack! Well, it’s a bit more complex than this, here’s the whole story ;)
This is a car that was bought on a...

Howdy yall
As I am still waiting for some parts for my CWF+shiny project, I have worked on the car for a couple of evening now, so I figured out it was time to resurrect this thread as I'm taking care of my old friend :)
