Is an ESC fan needed for 17.5 brushless?
Is an ESC fan needed for a GTB running in a 2wd buggy with a 17.5 motor?
It makes it tough to fit this into the already cramped JRX-2 chassis.

You should be fine without the fan. I never ran one in my B4 with a 13.5 on the hottest days of the summer. Just to be safe, check the temps @ 2 minutes and 5 minutes during practice.

Re: Is an ESC fan needed for 17.5 brushless?
Watch the GTB's, they run hotter than most--Charlie from Novak let me borrow one during the
2008 USOW as we were having problems with a prototype motor & thought it might be esc related, anyway the clear fan that comes factory with them is junk--, if you can get the smaller
but faster black novak fan remove the clear one and junk it, replace with the optional. Even with the 17.5 and up to 5000/37c batteries you can still do some damage on hot days depending on your rollout

Re: Is an ESC fan needed for 17.5 brushless?
I've been running my GTB with a 5.5 in my T4 for almost a year without a fan, and haven't had a problem so far.
Oh, and I'm running a 35C lipo through it too....

I didn't have any probs last year, sans fan.

Just keep an eye on the temps for the first couple runs. Also, if conditions change from moderately dry to really wet your system will be working much harder.
