So if a person were to collect the shapeways parts, they would still need a drive chain, bearings, motor plate, axles, wheels, tires, chassis, shock towers, and shocks. Anything else?
In essence yes , but I can make it a lot easier , I have listed a pair of chain sprockets for Kyosho Rocky type chains that are way easier to find , motor plate from Pargu store , I have modelled a kit to modify a Kyosho Scorpion 2014 diff making it able to also use more normal rear shafts , wheel axles can also come from the Kyosho Scorpion 2014 with a modified drive hub , I'll have to put a few of these items in my shop if you want them as I considered them very niche , if you PM me I can make a bundle of parts a bit like a parts tree that make it one item to keep costs down .
So far this new version with the suspension upgrade is not on Shapeways as its still in development and again very niche interest but it can be when I'm satisfied with it , Jeff at Factory Works has the chassis on file and you could talk with him GoMachV about that , it needs a tweak first though .
The front one way hubs again I have 3D printed ones on my car that I did at home and not in my Shapeways shop as getting the right press fit was a pain at home and I'd have to start again with hit and miss guessing for the different tolerances in Shapeways parts so that is a stumbling point but the biggest is the front drive spool , so far I've not found a part that can be modified to fit and real ones are rocking horse manure to find , I just spun them off on my lath but that's not something everybody can do .
sorry for the long winded answer ,

I took a peek at shapeways to see how expensive it might be to assemble a complete set of parts. Some of the parts were not able to be put in the cart yet, but it was still adding up to a substantial sum pretty quickly. Hmmm...

As I said I can make a parts tree too effectively bundle may parts into one , this cuts the price substantially as Shapeways charge a processing fee per part , if it's effectively one part it's way cheaper .

I've never bought from shapeways, so I was curious what putting all the parts in the shopping cart would look like.

Did a slight revision of the rear suspension mounts to raise the bottom arm mount up 2mm , the wheels are so small I could not make hubs that gave a parallel lower arm and dog bone so by moving the inner end of the lower arm up it gives a bit more articulation without binding up the shafts . I may further modify the mounts to give 1.5° toe in to the rear wheels , I'm already starting to like driving it more as I work out the kinks and dial in the suspension , think I got a bit carried away this afternoon as the motor was a bit toasty when I stopped

I did a little more minor refining of the rear suspension to give it 1° toe in on each side , I was going to add 1.5° but when I looked at it it seemed too much , running it today it's much more stable under acceleration and at speed , it's not too clear but might be able to see the angle in the suspension mounts .

Also added wing wire mounting points ,you can just see the hole for a locking screw in front of the diff out drive and the holes for the wire can be seen in the first picture .

This didn't go as well as I'd hoped , had a nightmare with the masking , I like the concept and think it could look good but I'll have to get another body to have another go .

I think painting is the most frustrating part of a build. Thank goodness for the covering and distraction capability of stickers.

Not perfect but a save I think :? Took a tedious amount of masking .
