Re: Forum News & Discussion
I finally received a response from support about the server OS update. They said they would attempt it today but didn't give me a time. So just a heads-up that if the board is inaccessible for some hours, you'll know why.

Well the server OS update wasn't done yet again... At this point I don't know exactly when it'll take place. It's soon though I know that. Maybe today? I give up.

Re: Forum News & Discussion
We are back!!!
The server OS update has been completed. The forum was only supposed to be down for a couple hours, but ended up being down for a little over 8. After being manually set up and started, the rest of the update process is supposed to be automated. Well at the end, some follow-up configurations were not successfully processed so the site remained down. It wasn't until I inquired about it that they realized it, fixed the problem, and we're back in business. Apparently the guy who was in charge of overseeing everything's shift ended, and went home. That's why it wasn't caught.
In hindsight I should have contacted them sooner to find out what was going on. This is the first time I've ever had hosting on a dedicated server before so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I thought maybe they ran into a problem, and didn't want to be a nuisance. Especially after how many times I've contacted them over the past 10 days. Anyway, this was the last major event set to happen. I still have to come up with a way to backup the attachments folder but I definitely need a major break on the heavy tech stuff, as I've been at it for 2 weeks straight now.
Well that's it for now, enjoy!

Re: Forum News & Discussion
It's small consolation but the only thing I ca say is thank you. I really admire people with determination and patience. I probably would have given up after the first day.
Thank you for all that you do to maintain the site and make it the best RC forum on the web.

I had a chance to configure another skin I installed a couple of months ago today. It's a dark theme called 'Element'. It has a color changer as well if you don't like the blue.

Thanks.
Tried it and I like it. Seems bolder, more contrast especially with red color.

Re: Forum News & Discussion
I just noticed a major problem with it unfortunately. When you switch the colors to red or green, half the background changes to a similar color.
I also just finished setting up another skin called 'win10'. It came out so nice, I set it as the boards new default!
The AcidTech skin we've used for a number of years was originally designed something like 15+ years ago. I know we're all about retro here but It was looking a bit dated, and not in a good way. This new default one is more modern which only aids in our credibility. You can still select AcidTech from your User Control Panel if you prefer, along with a few others.

Re: Forum News & Discussion
I was informed by our hoster that our server is old (Vintage!) and that we're being moved to a newer one as a precautionary measure. It will be taking place this coming Monday the 30th. They didn't specify when on Monday or how long it would take. If the sites inaccessible for a period of time, that's the reason. Hopefully it all goes smoothly, and any downtime will be minimal.
