yesterday i was at my buddy's hobby shop. the kid that works there told me that when thunder tiger went into ae's building to clean it out, they tossed all of the molds. apparently ALL of the molds. now, he was talking about the chassis components. i don't know about the bodies.
it's gonna really suck if you can't even get black parts......................if what he said is true.

If true, what kind of changes (pricing especially) do you think it is going to make in the "open market"?
It is really nice to be able to order parts from Tower, etc. eBay is just a necessary evil for me. I rather hate the whole thing, actually.
Do you realize how expensive those molds are? I don't know much about them, but I have heard they are quite expensive! And not just a couple thousand...

i can't prove or disprove what he said, simply stating what was said to me.
if true, the pricing will only change when the parts are not readilly accessable, obviously. when you can't get or order them from your lhs, or any online hobby store. when ebay becomes the only avenue to get them, that's when the cost will go up.
no matter what, thunder tiger was gonna become the downfall of associated. eventually ae would have stopped making parts for the old kits. but, if tossing the molds is true, t.t. ain't wasting time getting to that point.

Ya know Ive dealt with TT before with the EK4, and they straight up suck for any type of after the sale support. They never stay on top of parts availability, nor do they care about the customer. I know associated was somewhat connected with TT for a bit, but why did a stand up company sell out? Associated supported us for many years with parts from older models where as most other companies it was impossible to find parts for a kit from 4-5 years ago. I think this is it for AE and I allready wish TT would have died a long time ago, but that still hasnt happened. What does TT offer right now that anyone cares about other than the Raptor line of Heli's? Stock up on parts now as I think they will be gone soon enough.
TT sux! They had the top 1/8th MT(and I mean they could have stole the arket from the T-Maxx) and they dropped the ball. How awesome is it to stuff a .70 heli engine in a MT. Now that was a company I was psyched to support, till they let the end user fix problems that they should have. Now they will cheese up AE kits. I guess Ill stick to buying Losi. I was looking for a FT B4, but Ill probally grab a BK XXX.

My initial reaction is to chant anti AE things along beside you... but the owners have been giving it up and providing killer products and killer service for 30 something years!
They need a break. They deserve to sell out and be done with it. To move on and enjoy the wealth they have acquired. That is how it works, you know?
