Re: XXX 2002 Matt Francis World Champ Replica
Hey guys,
The car is up at my parents house in Sacramento and I shoul dbe going up there soon. When I do I will get as many detailed pics as possible. I could even break out my notes and let you know the exact setup, trick stuff, and additional stuff i ran on the car.
I also have all the magazine articles from the race so if anyone wants them let me know and I can scan them in and email to you. Just send me an email.

Re: XXX 2002 Matt Francis World Champ Replica
Well, thanks for all your comments about my project and my vision of the best replica as I can do.
I got the Trinity front brace and fit it on the plastique front bulkhead and graphite arms.

You may notice than the Matt front arms miss the Graphite label.

Now I'm able to build the front end with the Lunsford turnbuckles and red ball ends.
They small outer pins comes from the Original XXX BK, they Matt's was different but comes from ???

The upper front bulkhead fit the Team Losi front wing mount.

The front End looks just after the front shocks, looks for a new update in few days...

This build is even more fun to watch. Your replica is being over seen buy the man himself ( I checked out race results of u and your brother for all the years when u race heavy)and you gets to see the real one still intact as the old picture show. HOW COOL IS THAT

The last missing parts arrived shortly.
The rear hub fit the Losi titamium ball stud with 2 gold washers under.

The complete front end.

The rear too.

Re: XXX 2002 Matt Francis World Champ Replica
Well, I'm near than done.
The rear end fit the Losi Steel Dog Bones and the Old Style and Narrow XX 2.2 wheels with ProLine Hole Shots.

I'm just waiting for the Trinity Rear Sway Bar and to find the right front outer pins...

Re: XXX 2002 Matt Francis World Champ Replica
Wow! I've not seen this build before.... I too would like to see the finished article... with painted bodyshell etc.
Amazing attention to detail as we've come to expect.... & just how sexy does this XXX look with all those blue & red parts - who'd have thought it!
Its amazing to think that the Triple X car had been out for at least 3 years by 2002.... and yet this car pretty much represents what would be the current top spec 2wd Losi buggy in 2010 (with some hop-ups
)
Thing is, considering the above paragraph, when the Losi XX came out - it was a revelation, such a stable & quick car compared to anything else before it.... yet when I replaced my ageing XX for a XXX - It seemed no better, in fact it seemed less nimble & tended to understeer more... I think a Losi XX with the right bits (threaded shocks etc) could be competitive against all the modern 2wd buggies.... I don't think the technology in 1/10th has really come on that far in 18 years or so?

Re: OH MY GOD!!!!!
Well done kenooze, this is by far the most detail I've seen anyone go to build a replica!! Massive kudos for having the patience to build it as true-to-replica as you have, and not rush it like I probably would have. My hat goes off to you my friend!
I am officially gob-smacked!!
Great work and we can't wait to see the body painted and the car complete and looking sweet!
