What are these arms?

In looking around RC10Talk I stumbled on this image and I am interested to know what arms are these - Andy's?

Anyone know where to get a set - Front and Rear? Also do the Andy's front need special longer drive shafts?

Also is this a 870c or the '91 works chassis?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Fred,

Those arms are Yokomo arms that came standard on the Works '91 and Works '93 (the '93 versions had a hole for the anti-roll bar). The versions in the photo have been modified somewhat with the centre sections being cut-out.

The chassis is a Works '91.

Yes, Fred, they should bolt right on. What I'm not sure about is whether or not the bearing carriers and steering blocks from the 870c will fit these '91 arms. My hunch is yes. You may have to use the '91 shock towers, universals, wheels and wheel mounts to get everything in spec. I believe the '91 arms are a bit longer than the 870c.

Sorry but I have to disagree: at the gearbox side no-issue, but near the wheels: the hinge points on these 91 arms are far more outward and the carriers have less offset than their 870C counterparts

EDIT: for example on the front: the steering knuckle of an 870 C sits on the outside of the arm , while on the 91 it sits inside of the arm

So that would mean to move to these arms - I can bolt onto the 870c but everything (knuckles, arm, universal) would have to be works '91?

correct, and to have the right offset; also correct hubs and wheels. Everything on the 91 is made for the arms to go as wide as possible: deep into the wheels with very little offset.

Trend of that time: if you compare the optima mid , or optima to the lazer you see the same evolution

So Andy's did make replacement arms for the 870c - anyone else and how common are they?

I think I remember then from the time but I imagine they are hard to find now.

Andy's and RPM made replacements Andy's are less rare than the RPM but still not an easy find.

The chassis plate above is the -91 works. Can you replace the 870c chassis plate with that one?

Might ebay one or look get one from fibre lyte.
