resto-mod rc-10
hey guys i was on here a few months ago when i was thinking of rstoring a rc-10.i have since sold that car because i was busy with a tamiya project.i have sold that as well and now have a hpi FIRESTORM FLUX.it is a great truck and very fast but i am kind of bored with it.when i was at my buddys the other day i saw he had an old rc10 gold pan collecting dust.i then stumbled upon you guys again today and got a project idea going.it involves using the electrinics out of the FLUX which is essentially castle creations motor and esc.i would like toi rebuild the the buggy but use some newer parts.i definately would like to put wider a-arms on it.can someone steer me in the right direction?i see tower still has alot of parts.will parts from the newer buggy fit such as shock towers,tie-rods,shocks,wheels,etc....?any info would be great.
Re: resto-mod rc-10
Tower hobbies does carry a bunch of part for the old RC10. The new wider from suspension arms (for the old buggy) are black instead of the original off-white nylon color.

I don't see it on the towerhobbies site, but I know that the front caster blocks are also available. i bought some about two months ago.
As found on RC10.com, you can also change some parts on the buggy so you can run the current wheels and tires:
In order to use the current wheels and tires you will need the following:
#7378 3/16 axles
#9277 bearings (3/16 x 3/8 flanged bearings)
#7369 axle pins
#7368 axle shims
If you need a dust cover for the pinion and differential, you can find some on ebay. I recently bought a few of these: ebay Item number: 280280391064
or, you could contact me about a few RC10's that i've already restored. I have a few graphite versions and one gold pan.

Re: resto-mod rc-10
MIP still makes the CVD's. They just stopped production of their BB raced bellcrank kit, but AEIOU has a great tech article in here somewhere (use the search) for using new parts to make your own BB bellcrank. RPM no longer makes the mini bumpers for the 10, but CRP on ebay has bumpers to fit, if you like the look of em... Gearcovers.... not in production
anymore. I believe racer8838 on ebay sells clear lexan ones for about $8 shipped.
