RC10B1.5 resto mod
I recently picked up a T2 sport chassis from the ebay salvage yard with the intention of making a B1.5 woin buggy build. Its well used and scraped up but perfect for a runner. I cut it way down (1/2" at the lowest point), shortened the front of the chassis and trimmed a nose plate for now. Honestly I wanted to cut the sides down to get rid of the access hole the previous owner drilled but suprisingly, its still super rigid with the angled up chassis sides. Ill be updating as the build goes and hopefully I can get it together soon since I want to actually run this one at a local track.

The T2 tub looks good cut down. Really resembles the B2/B3. I've cut down 2 I think.

Re: RC10B1.5 resto mod
Yup, definitely has a b2/b3 vibe with the sides cut down. I made a little late night progress with getting the chassis drilled and nose plate mounted, I decided to mount it about an 1/8" forward from where the normal buggy length mounting holes would be, then shortened and drilled a pair of nose tubes. Lastly, got a servo installed with new mounting holes. That should be the majority of all the chopping and hacking I plan on doing with this build, but we shall see.........

Front end assembly, pretty much plug-n-play stuff here. Klein front arms/rpm worlds width, wide gt axles, 25° caster blocks, jconcepts ball bearing steering, lunsford turnbuckles, rpm ball cups, associated servo saver (tamiya hi-torque copy), rpm mini front bumper.

Re: RC10B1.5 resto mod
I recently managed a little more time to get this one closer to being finished. Got to work on the rear end and first off I have the klein wide rear arms from dynotech with associated 3° rear arm mounts and 0° hub carriers. I did not have any B44 driveshafts so after some searching I came across an associated 64mm center shaft for a rc10b74 that fit the b4/t4 cva axles and the outdrives with a little filing since the newer parts have a slightly larger metric driveshaft pin compared to the older standard pin (need to purchase two since they only come with one per package). Next, got to give a big thanks to Jeff at factory works for making a custom but very factory looking B1.5 rear tower. Its got holes for B6 wing mounts and a center body mount/rest, T2 tower cutout to route wires through, and carries over the height and shock mounting holes of a worlds car tower.

Re: RC10B1.5 resto mod
With the tricky rear end parts out of the way I have just the transmission and shocks left. A standard rebuilt T2 transmission with a B4 topshaft with V2 slipper is used and I customized a rpm T2 hydra gear cover to give it a more narrow profile. This buggy is going to get a 7.5 reedy mod motor for now but I do plan to run it with a 17.5 stocker as well. The shocks used are standard T2 length bodies (1.02 fronts and 1.32 rears) with associated 1.02 gold ti coated shafts all around and ft blue aluminum ball rod ends. Biggest upgrade for the shocks are also the newer x-rings to replace the red o-rings which have been a night and day improvement. For me, the old red o-rings always leaked a little oil initially and more over time as they swell in the shock where as the x-rings just seal right away and stay very consistent with very little oil leakage over time.

Lastly, for this bit of progress I've got the chassis all assembled and it is now a roller/slider. B6 wing mounts added and I am using a standard rc10 battery cup with new holes drilled in the chassis. A jconcepts battery strap with some thumb screws will secure the battery down.

Re: RC10B1.5 resto mod
Electronics are installed and it's now a runner. I'll be using B4 bearing front wheels and modern hex rears. Next, the body. Back about 15 years ago or so when we started trying to piece together T2 buggies here on 10talk, finding a currently available body that fit the t2 chassis was all trial and error. A lot of bodies had to be hacked up to know for sure if they were going to work and some you'd just know right away weren't gona fit. In the end it came down to the viper body and a few that fit the losi buggies. Recently I spoke with scr8p and he mentioned he got a B2 body to fit on one of his b1.5 projects. In the past, I was not able to get a B3 body I had to work so I didnt bother to source a then hard to find B2 body. With jconcepts now having those bodies available, I gave the B2 a shot, and sure enough, with some creative hacking, it actually fit like a charm. Using a new b2 body is the key, one already cut out for an actual b2 will work, but isnt going to come out as nice and clean since the cut out is going to be different. In the end if you don't slam the body as low as possible, it'll fit over everything nicely. The sides are cut leaving about a 1/4" more plastic from the intended cut line to fully cover the sides of the chassis. The back of the body needs to be chopped off and I've got a 10t rear body mount to serve as a body rest. The body itself will get attached to the chassis with velcro after the paint job.

Nice!
. .
Great work on the buggy too! That B2 body is a nice fit.

Haha, I guess those were some quite obvious easter eggs. Both motors are used and belonged to my dad. I only recall being there in person as a kid when he purchased the yellow can race prep at the ranch pit shop in the late 80's for his rc10. It's a 17x1 and both the can and endbell say ayk on them. I don't have details on the revolution yet.

Really great build

Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

Re: RC10B1.5 resto mod
Not yet. I'm itch'n to let this one touch down on some outdoor dirt though. Still working on the paint scheme and I want it to be completely done before I take it out. I've tested it around the house and everything feels on point.
