Does anyone cut comms?
I have a few Reedy comms that need some TLC. I don't think any of the local shops have comm cutters anymore.
Or does anyone have any recommendations on a lathe I can grab on ebay?

Re: Does anyone cut comms?
Look for a Cobra pro com 2000. I have one and it has been great.

Integy Zipp Mod lathe: best bang for the buck.
Hudy Tech Comm Lathe: best lathe for lots of bucks.
I've owned them both. I still own the Integy if that says anything.

A Cobra 2000 or an old Twister will fit the bill Richie. Grab a couple of new carbide bits and you'll be set.

Re: Does anyone cut comms?
I have the automatic Hudy lathe as well as an old fantom which is made of one piece so its as square as they come. Its the same one that Todd from Putnam Propulsion uses.
Rich if you just need those cut up send them to me and I'll rebuild them for you.

It's a motor communicator, it communicates the brushes with the wire wind magnet thingy

Bill, I hope you are just pulling our legs.clinehobbies wrote:What's a comm?

Yeah, I have two Reedy Ultra comms that need some love. I was thinking of just getting a used lathe to clean them up. I already have brushless power but I'd like to keep some vintage power in my Tekin and A&L conversion.
Erich, I 'm sending a PM.
