If anyone has a front body mount for an LXT and will be at Roostpalooza tomorrow let me know, I apparently didn't bring a single one of them with me and mine busted during practice today.
I didn't really get time to take pictures but the track is pretty fun and definitely loose. Starting to get a little bit on the bumpy side now too.

That looks good! Kydex could fix that front body mount...assuming it's the bulkhead to stub part

nah its the stub part that cracked, I have spares but not with me, We'll just have to hope the glue and velcro hold it together.Charlie don't surf wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:50 pm That looks good! Kydex could fix that front body mount...assuming it's the bulkhead to stub part

That sucks. Always something. My biggest expense with vintage racing is having 2 spares of everything just in caseRogueIV wrote: ↑Sun Apr 13, 2025 8:05 amnah its the stub part that cracked, I have spares but not with me, We'll just have to hope the glue and velcro hold it together.Charlie don't surf wrote: ↑Sat Apr 12, 2025 6:50 pm That looks good! I used alternative means to secure the front of the body and it survived the day unlike my ego after completely botching the A main on turn 1.

I’ve seen the pictures and videos so far on facebook and everything looked like a ton of fun and so awesome! Let’s have a rundown of cars and equipment.
What was the overall motor/ esc preference? Brushed or Brushless? Tires and wheels? Batteries especially connectors, bullets or other? Makes and models? I’m interested in the weird technical stuff.
I know that pretty much everyone who read this is thinking I’m nuts.

I think most of us were running Brushless. 17.5 was the limit in the 2wd classes and 13.5 in the 4wd. For me I use 5mm Bullet connecters that go straight into my shorty lipo packs.
The power didn't matter much though, for reference my best qualifier was done on a half dead battery. What really mattered was tires and suspension setup. Big chunky tires seemed to work really well, at least for me. As the day went on and the track got blown out and bumpy we had to soften suspensions quite a bit. Next time I do real dirt I'm definitely bringing more low weight oils and springs.

as mentioned, the classes are defined so you can run brushed or brushless. I know Mark W. was running something with a brushed motor, I'm not sure which class.
For ease of maintenance, most guys will opt for lipo and brushless, its just so much more power and simple. I run old lipo packs, 5000Mah, nothing great. both 4 and 5mm bullets. For the powertrain, I usually try and buy either low mile used stuff or the occasional NIP/new stuff from ebay. I have mostly tekin RS speed controller and reedy S+ motors, but have others. Soldered direct, no connectors on the motors. very simple.
practice on saturday was super fun, sunday the track blew out quite a bit. with so little traction, almost any tire that had some kind of aggressive feature would have worked. pin knob bar spike, etc. The guys running 4wd RC10's were doing OK with the kit tires for example.
