off topic: fry sauce

Our local police dept is crazy funny, if you are on Facebook you need to have a look sometime at Jerome PD. 90% of their posts are funny 98% of the time

They posted this yesterday and I had no idea frys sauce wasn't a national thing. People from all over the US were saying they never heard of it. So.... How bout you? I know the Oregon and Idaho peeps know, and im sure Cali and Washington State since we share a lot of restaurants. Over here it's Artic Circle, Burgerville, and Culver's that offer it. Edit- forgot about A&W!

The "tastes like" recipe is ketchup, mayo, and buttermilk but to me it tastes just like Russian salad dressing (or thousand Island without the relish)

I think Culver’s started in WI and first time hearing of it. They sure don’t offer it here!

I went to a Culver's last year and saw it but did not try.

I used to get fries with my eggs benedict at restaurants and use the hollandaise on the fries too.

I haven't heard of it, but we go to Culver's quite a lot. I will check if we have it in Indiana. It isn't sitting out with the other condiments, but maybe I can request it.

Never heard of it, grew up in Oregon and have been in Cali the last 40 years. In fact, very little of what we had in Oregon is down here, department stores, restaurants, etc.

I've heard of it, but it is rare to find it offered here. Rare enough that a lot of people here probably haven't heard of it. I watch a lot of the food shows and know about it mostly from them. You can buy it in a bottle in the store but only a couple of chains around here offer it in a restaurant. G Hughes makes a sugar free fry sauce in a bottle that is really good. My nephew gets it, that's the only reason I know you can buy it in stores here. I tried it and liked it just fine. I'll eat it if it's there but just buy ketchup for home. I'm not picky when it comes to food though!

Not to hijack the thread, but one thing that does seem to be regional is the use of mayonnaise. Personally, I'm more of a salad dressing (mayo with sweet relish) kind of guy, but mayo is fine. My point is, I hear some regions/restaurants use it liberally on everything, the only place I ever see it in the wild is at a sandwich shop.

What part of Oregon? Burgerville is the biggest source I know in Oregon and I got to see a lot of the state while running jobs over the years, but south of Salem I don't think there are any Burgervilles. They are all up north and into Washington.

My stomping grounds were Portland to Salem, Mt. Hood to the coast. Bob's Big Boy was the burger place of Salem where I went to college. I left the state in the mid-80's, Burgerville must have come after that.
