Doug, you need a friend .......................... a friend with a phone. :D You really could just do this with someone else's phone, and then they can delete the app. I forgot I even had it on my phone.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

This really is the simplest way , a friends phone

Yes, send me your address and I'll find a phone in my collection to send you. It's a 2 minute task once you have a proper device.
I know I’ve said this before, but:

That right there is the reason this place is just awesome!!! No Facebook bullying just a great community!

Really looking forward to seeing @XLR8 get to 3d print, and comfortably from WiFi on a laptop.

A cheap Walmart tablet with a camera on the back would be the quickest way, no phone SIM/plan, and take it back once the bind is complete; then set the Bambu to LANonly mode afterwards.

No pressure though :D

Hope you will find a way to get this sorted, @XLR8

On my side, there was a delivery attempt for the A1 mini yesterday, but it did not happened, as I was in the office and my wife was not home at that time. Another delivery attempt should happen today, and I'll work from home.

It should arrive early afternoon, and I should be able to start it up at the end of my working day...
I buy kits to build and ru(i)n them :-)

Thanks again, silvertriple.

I hate when there's been a failed delivery attempt but since COVID, I've noticed most carriers have stopped requiring a signature and just leave my package on the front porch. I did have one delivery that required signature but the delivery person actually signed for me after dropping off the package and driving away. Yeah, that was weird!

Anyway, has anyone experience adhesion problems with PLA or PTEG and have you heard about this new "super tack cool plate" from Bambu?

Here's a review:

At only $14.99, it looks like cheap insurance. Is there a disadvantage to using this plate for all our PLA and PTEG prints?
If not then "That's good; one less thing."

I just started the A1 mini with the idea I would not use Bambu Handy app to do the pairing, just to try experience a bit if I could do something with Bambu Studio.
I connected it to my Wifi (as I could key the wifi passcode on the screen), and then skip the user account connection. It asked me to agree terms, which I did, then I had no longer any QR code displayed on the screen and it went to the calibration phase.
I left the printer, went to my desk and the opened Bambu Studio, and on the device tab, a new device was visible. I just have to associated it to my Bambu account and I did not have to key any single passcode, pincode or whatsoever (supposedly as the printer is in the same LAN as my laptop).
I can now monitor the calibration progress from the camera and it seems that it worked fine...
@XLR8, there might be a way...

I believe it is the same type of material than what Biqu proposed recently starting with P1/X1 series, with at least one advantage, which is there will be defined settings avoiding to play with the Plates QR codes to make it work with the Plate detection on X1Series... One P1Series and A1 series, that would probably makes no difference for the usability prospective. In terms of adhesion, I can't say : not tested yet, but it seems than people who have them in hands like them (but maybe quite early to have a real return of experience)...

I'm happy to report that my very first print was a success.

The transmission housing required only 1 hour and 10 minutes to print and the P1S wasn't as noisy as I thought it would be. :D

Yes, miracles do happen!! Thank you!

No, sorry, I didn't print a benchy and I don't have a good excuse.
Anyway, I reckon there are enough of those floating around.

So, Bambu Customer Support have been so persistent, patient and kind, I'm going to let them have the last word.

... especially since it's what y'all have been telling me all along:

"Dear Bambu Lab Customer,
Thanks for your update!

We sincerely apologize for the difficulties in making Handy compatible with your device.
Regarding recommended devices, we suggest trying to borrow someone else's phone for binding.
After the firmware update, you will be able to bind your computer using a PIN code.
Another low-cost option is to purchase a second-hand iOS or Android device.
I apologize for not being very knowledgeable in this area, but we kindly ask you to inquire with the seller when purchasing whether the device supports Bambu Handy.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Best Regards,
Bambu Lab Customer Support
"

It's clear to me that updating the firmware is a critical first step in my case and the printer will need to connect to the web to accomplish that step.
At the moment, the printer is connected to my laptop via LAN-only mode.

The QIDI is able to update Firmware from an SD card, do Bambu give you that ability?

LANonly mode takes away the Internet Gateway and DNS values, so there's no outside connection.

If you exit LANonly mode, will it pull the gateway and DNS settings, and get out to the internet?

I had thought you needed the QR code first, in order to even enter LANonly mode, sounds like you made it further.
