I can't speak to all of them but many are plastic and can't be dyed.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

a lot of Tamiya stuff is made of ABS plastic and doesn't really take dye.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Dyeing involves immersing the wheels in boiling water, which will melt and deform ABS plastic wheels. Nylon wheels won't be affected by boiling water. Don't do it unless you have spares and are prepared to toss a set away if the dyeing fails.

I've never had a reason to try it before, but I'm under the impression that only nylon is dyable when it comes to R/C parts.
