I like the Bambu filament for AMS use since they are detected and it simplifies loading and all. Otherwise I dont think the quality is much different. If you get some filament off Amazon id recommend Kingroon, Creality, Priline, and eSun. Some of the off brands have been a little odd to print with. You dont want to be fighting learning filament while you are learning the machine.

For a dryer, I like these- I have two, one on each machine for side loading. I modified mine to load the filament from the front, if you get one and want the file ill send you the printed part to make it work. It makes loading so much easier than stock.

You can use the printer to dry your material as well, although it wastes time when you could be printing. PLA really doesnt require much drying, unless you are in a humid environment. Petg, ABS, etc are way more picky about being dry.

After digging in a little deeper, checking reviews, tests, comparisons, etc., I've decided to go with the Creality Space Pi. Possibly a mistake as even the Space Pi has it's problems. Anyway, the goal is to dry the filament and tests show the Space Pi works well. The Creality dryer will likely fail one day (hobby grade filament dryers aren't among the most reliable products on the market) and I'll get the Sunlu for sure as there's only slight difference in performance -- all things considered.

Also, cardboard and particle board spools absorb moisture and increase filament drying time so I'm going to avoid using them.

For long-term storage of opened filament while it's out of the dry box, I was thinking about using zip-lock bags and desiccant beads. I can use my shop-vac to pull most of the air from the bag before sealing it. Is this a mistake? I know there are better methods but I'm trying to watch my spending.

So I have a P1s with the supplied spool of PLA and I'm ready to print for the first time.
I use a basic flip phone and care nothing about the Handy App or Bambu cloud, I simply want to send my files directly from my laptop to the printer via wifi connection.
However, when I navigate to WLAN for configuration, I'm asked to scan the displayed QR and I can't get beyond this.
The P1s is equipped with SD card reader but my laptop doesn't have an sd port so I must send files wirelessly.
Could someone please guide me through the wireless configuration process? Bambu support has so far not been helpful.

Thanks. Apparently the app won't run on a computer; it requires ios or android and my mobile device is neither.
Also, I don't see an Ethernet port on the printer.
If I can't connect, I might need to send the printer back. I'm looking for support's phone number.

Edit: I'm past the 14 day return window so I guess I'm stuck with it.

Seeing how my QIDI is very similar to BambuLab, if you want to use a PC/laptop over WiFi, which I do to send the jobs, try installing the Bambu Studio:

I have TeamViewer also, if you need remote support to get this going.

Yikes. While I did need my phone to set it up the first time, everything else has been wireless from my PC to the Bambu. I suppose you could use Android subsystem for windows and a webcam to do the qr scan, but that's not a quick and easy process to install and use. I have it set up on mine but I couldn't even tell you how I did it lol. Once you have it hooked up to the network you won't use it again. You might be able to borrow someone's phone or tablet for setup, or just buy a cheap one. Ultimately this is 2024 and to both not have a smartphone and do have a 3d printer is rare!

Yes, microsd cards will come with the full size adapter. That said, you don't want to bother with the sd stuff, wireless is so much easier once set up. I sure don't miss the sd card days

Im sure one of us has a phone or tablet they could send you, or grab a phone from best buy as a pay as you go for like $30

Sorry, didn't realize that. The QIDI has a NIC and WIFI, with settings on the panel to connect.

SD cards do have the large adapter to mini.

Looks like this turns off the Handy App, and gives you an access code for your Bambu Studio to connect to it. Worth a try.

I could borrow a phone but since it won't be on my network or have a Bambu account, I'm doubtful it will work. Honestly, all of this is well outside my experience or knowledge.

I've reviewed the info on Bambu's website and I'm unable to find where a mobile device with ios or android os is listed as a requirement.

I'm past the 14 day return window so my only option is to try and sell the printer. Maybe I can find a buyer that's local so I can avoid shipping costs.
