RC10GT PLUS: Quick Build

Post by guggles »

Hey Guys, Back into the gas truck game. I have a factory team one but its so nice I dont wanna run it. Up came this rtr model on ebay and I picked it up. Looked to be really low use and not abused or butchered. Unfortunately the stock rtr engine has pinch but the bearings are bad. So I got a new SH .15 engine put in for now, gonna use a force .12 pro eventually. Engine options are pretty thin out there these days.

So yeah, cleaned it up, got a new body and tires and added a few parts and my own electronics and this is what I have got:

Got the "SG" style crankshaft to fit and work like stock, I can share further info about the parts used and how I did it. Basically its just a custom clutch setup with a mix of parts. Traxxas revo flywheel and clutch, Hpi pilot nut for the savage, Racers edge 15T clutch bell for the original Tmaxx and some 5x8 bushings. You have to get a small clutch bell in .8 mod pitch for the original Tmaxx because that used a pilot shaft and had a short clutchbell. Fortunately they are still in stock on ebay and they work with the standard traxxas clutch. Which is really cheap to get and replace and is even better than the stock GT clutch I think.
All ready to rip:

And the cycle continues, new parts donor car/ eventually ill probably get to an actual tub gt build.

Thanks for checking out my build and any questions or comments feel free too!

Thank you for the compliment, I appreciate that. Always wanted a cool body with flames on it and it took a lot of practicing with the airbrush to get to this point.
