First R/C car (RC10GT)
Hello I got my first R/C car which is an rc10gt nitro I got it as a rolling shell from a family member it sat in a bin for a long time. And I thought I can restore it good thing is it has all the suspension components and transmission and engine but noting else and I don't know where to start. I would really appreciate any tips.

Re: First R/C car (RC10GT)
Welcome and thanks for sharing the pictures. I am no means a GT expert, I’ll leave that to others on the forum but here is one of the manuals to get you started:
https://img2.associatedelectrics.com/pdf/cars_and_trucks/RC10GT/Team_Built/tbgt_manual.pdf
Looks to be missing steering servo and mounts, gas tank, throttle servo mounts, receiver and mount but a great basis for a rebuild and mostly all there. Plenty available on eBay, Facebook marketplace etc. and a reproduction body can be found. Hope that helps.

I come for the RC10's but stay for the Yokomo's

Re: First R/C car (RC10GT)
That's an early short chassis RTR, actually a pretty rare truck if it's in good shape. The missing pullstart and related parts would be a waste of money if the engine is no good, so make sure the engine has good compression first. If I were you I would actually buy a decent used AE .15 as this would likely be cheaper than buying new parts.
There are a few other parts missing but can still be found.
Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Re: First R/C car (RC10GT)
I’ll do my research on the RC car and I’ll check if the motor is still good. Quick question is checking compression for a nitro engine like checking compression for a regular engine ?

I found this video describing compression checking yeah I checked the motor and it does have the so called “Pinch”

Re: First R/C car (RC10GT)
like RJ stated above it is the first RTR gt version. Chassis is sometimes bent right behind the front nose tube brace mounts. Looks like you're not missing much. The missing parts are all easy replacements and these were all over so parts shouldn't be too much. Looks like someone might've put some duratrax wheels on it at one point. Those definitely need to be replaced if you're gonna run it. The duratrax wheels were more ABS plastic than nylon so they chipped and got brittle when glueing tires to them. Seems they replaced the front shock tower also with a later RTR version.
Should prove a fun rebuild. You're in the right place for info anyway. Good luck and keep posting!

Re: First R/C car (RC10GT)
]So, good and bad news I went to the local RC shop, and I was told my motor is done due to it having really low compression, so that sucks, so I'm on the hunt for a new engine. Does anyone have recommendations for a new power train? I also found a controller and a receiver for a good price. It's 6 channel one even though I think I need two channels. So far my parts list is this. project is budget is 400$ I will appreciate. Feedback on the list so far.

Re: First R/C car (RC10GT)
If the motor is shot and you are missing other gas related components, it looks like a good candidate for electric conversion.
Mine is brushed and uses NIMH batteries, because that's how I roll. But a nice brushless and 2S will blow a gas motor away.

Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.
