I've just been getting back in to RC the last few months, so I'm getting caught up on what I missed the last 20+ years.
I'm looking for a rather inexpensive 1/10 on road chassis for this HPI '67 vette body.
What I've come to find out lately, is that nearly all of the rear 2WD cars are considered drift cars now, except Tamiya M06, and another I can't remember atm. Most choices are AWD these days.

Your HPI body should be a 200mm wide body, so you'll want to be sure your chassis options are intended for that body width.
The Kyosho Fazer chassis comes with adapters for that purpose, 190mm or 200mm, in the form of disc brake looking extensions.
I'm wondering if just going with the HPI chassis to match the body, would be the easiest route. The RS4 looks pretty good.
The Fazer also comes in two different chassis lengths, so one may fit your body better than the other. It is a good choice for a cheap onroad basher with readily available parts.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

I'll dig for it, but I have a picture of an HPI 200mm Mustang GT on an old Street Sport chassis that I sold a while back. It was a donut machine.
Like your HPI body! The Traxxas 4-tec 2.0 RTR can be had for $250 brushed, $300 brushless; seems to be the fastest out of the box.

The FZ02 chassis kit is 10.2 in. wheelbase, and comes with upgrades for using LiPo/brushless, like aluminum shaft and front CVA's'.
The FZ02L, might as well buy the Kyosho Fazer MK2 Bel Air, or Fleetside RTR with everything included, also comes with $60 worth of Chevy wheels, that are really close to stock '67 vette wheels.
The only thing holding me back from the FZ02 chassis kit, is all the fluids and lubricants it needs to be built.
The HPI RS4 comes with all of that inside already. If I have to get something 40% pre-built, I'm thinking HPI RS4.

New from A-main, Et al. they're only like $150 shipped+tax... 10.25 wheelbase 193mm AWD on-road RTR.

That looks like a nice chassis! It would make it even more worthwhile if the Rx it comes with could bind to Spektrum DX5C, DSMR/AVC.

I am shocked chassis plates and the like aren't available for $3... shipped! $10 for a pair of arms?!? I thought there was a rule parts for Traxxas' could get that high.
There's always the RJspeed Sport chassis for the true vintage connoisseur...
If I were a GM guy, I would buy one of the Kyosho kits just on principle. They are all gorgeous. Muscle car porn. Great selection, too. Some are the staples- 69 Camaro, 57 Bel Air, but you can also pick a Fleetside, a Riviera (!), an El Camino...
Throw in Kyosho quality, competitive price, and the prospect of long term part support (given that they have released so many kits on the same chassis) and you really can't go wrong.
There are other good choices, fair enough, but is there any reason to NOT pick the Kyosho?

The Kyosho Fazer does seem the easiest choice, especially the RTR for $246, compared to the $140 FZ02 chassis kit. The $60 Chevy wheels alone would make that $200, and without the Tx,Rx, ESC and motor.
If i could buy the RTR kit and then sell the Bel Air, or Fleetline body, I'd be in good shape. Those replacement bodies are $110.
Part numbers starting with "58" are less electronics, numbers starting with "57" are RTR and "74" numbers are painted but less radio equipment. List is useful to find the model with the cheapest price because (under the body you wouldn't be using anyway) they're all the same.
So many inexpensive and good choices. Those Kyosho Chevy wheels won't leave me alone though, perfect for a vette tribute.

The HPI '67 vette body is 200mm.
That settles it, Kyosho Fazer FZ02L RTR for $246 will be the choice, on the Fleetline, or the Bel Air. The Mercedes has the 5 slot rally rims, that look the same as the Chevy wheels, but without the knock offs:
I'm also looking to pick up another cheap on road chassis, or two, with no body or RX preferably, and barely used. Will scout eBay, now that I know what's out there, and what the cost is.
