Plan C RC10T3 Shelfer

Post by RC10th »

We're going racin' again !!

This time with an RC10T3 which isn't my favorite truck but on paper it's ideal for vintage racing. The SRT will sit on the sidelines for now.

Many thanks to Alex for selling me this blank canvas to work with. So far I've torn it down and thoroughly cleaned everything and polished all the hinge pins and aluminum bits.

It won't be an exciting build by any means as it will mostly be a stock T3, but I'll update it as parts roll in. It doesn't need to look exciting, it just needs to be fast.

And maybe this time I'll be lucky enough to actually program the ESC !

Gonna be a good one. I had such fun with the T3 bitd. I didn't even know what I was doing, really, and I still did OK with it. It's a basket case at the moment, in a box, in storage. Oh, it's all there, somewhere.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

It was kind of the forgotten truck in the AE line up I feel. I think being the first offered RTR and being "all plastic" kinda turned me of it. Plus it was the first time it shared no parts with the previous trucks !

I remember doing big air jumps with mine and actually shattering the magnets in the motor can. But the truck was never as much fun as the T/T2 or T4 in my opinion. Admittedly though I never spent much time actively racing the T3 as the other models.

Anyways... It will be fun regardless

Some more parts.... Bodies, wheels, decals, and a slipper eliminator. Still can't do much until bearings and turnbuckles arrive.

And that's on top of a massive stack of wheels that Alex supplied with the truck.

More bits turned up, some hopefully go fast bearings...

As well as a few other things like screws and turnbuckles but they aren't very exciting, I guess the same could be said about bearings though.....

Not very exciting at the moment but the front end (Bag A and B) is finished. The turnbuckles are early AE titanium and many of the screws are silver aluminium. I also replaced the plastic bushings in the steering rack with bearings.

And dust covers because..... well..... they make you faster

I started working on the back of the truck and not everything goes smoothly  lol.

I bought a custom works slipper eliminator top shaft and slipper eliminator, checked the weights and when I went to put it together I found out that CW must have done away with the trans spacers. All is not lost though as I just need to find/order a slipper eliminator for earlier Associated cars.

For the meantime I just put it together with the stock parts.

I've always been a carbide ball guy but I put Acer ceramic balls in this diff and must say I'm pretty impressed so far. The Acer ceramic bearings are also quite smooth too, just like the SRT you can blow on the spur gear and it all spins.

Someone say springs?

I bought 15 pairs of springs so surely I can find 4 that work

Many thanks to Alex for putting me onto these cheap tires. I got tired of waiting for Carvers to become available again. I don't know how well these will perform compared to big name tires but they feel surprisingly good and look good.

Althought not my first choice I've ordered a Dhawk traditional style 7075 top shaft to try. Just need to wait for it to arrive.

At least it's looking like a truck now albeit rather plain looking, lol.

They are from PR Racing. I've never heard of them before.

They are, but I bought the silver softs which look to be out of stock on the US site.

They also make these ones that look a bit vintage.
