There are ball joints up front and metal drive shafts... I hear the main rear gearbox is a pain to get into. Not sure how I'll open it just yet but the front gearbox should open up easily. I have to buy some Tamiya grease during the week for that part.

I'll be further stripping this car down as far as I can go. I'll upload more clearer pics as I go along

Few random ones, the front differential has perfect gears, no stripping or any signs of wear. It has some sort of white grease in it. The grease does seem abit caked though so I will need to remove the old stuff and apply new stuff. The main gearbox at the back doesnt open easily. The wheels are pressed on so can't split the box open. I'm assuming the grease is probably abit caked in there to. The only way to get any access to the main gearbox is to remove the motors and peer in. I really want to gain access to the rear differential but you would surely do damage trying the hammer the wheels off... Might have to just peer in with a camera scope and try scrape out as much of the old grease and squirt some new grease in through the motor holes.

Going to be painting this car shortly. Have a nice new 80s RC decal sheet I ordered from eBay. Its going to look really well in new colours. I also have some replacement tyres from another Taiyo which are exactly the same and in near perfect condition. The tyres currently on it are cracked on the sidewalls.

Great pictures , I've never seen the propshaft joint at the rear done in quite that way , quite clever

If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.
