the transponder is the lap counter that's in your car. most track have their own that you can use, but a lot of people buy their own personal transponders nowadays.

the one in your link only works with the orion lap counter. you'd need one of these. it plugs right in to the receiver, and that's it:

but being as though you don't race on a weekly basis (or ever ), there's no reason to go out and buy one.

pretty sure it'd be the day of. they'll probably be taking sign-up's during the practice days too, i'd guess.

Are there any camp grounds locally? I am not afraid of a tent and actually have 2 that have yet to be opened. And they are at least 4 years old.

Check out Gentile's Campground in Plymouth-- I got 13 minutes to the track on mapquest (7.69 miles). http://www.ctvisit.com/PropertyDetail.aspx?id=2476
There's also Branch Brook Camprground in Thomaston-- 14 minutes (10.32 miles). I couldn't find anything online other than the contact info at the Conn. Campground Owners Assoc: http://www.campconn.com/

I've been toying with the same idea of camping- cheaper than a hotel. This really sounds like a great event. I'd be bringing a 6 gear RC10 for the 1st class and a Hotshot or a Grasset/Hornhopper combo for the second Of course if I can make it...

Mark/Erich - is there going to be a "cut-off" date for entries? or will you take sign-up the weekend of the race??

If you do allow signups on race day, will they still get the t-shirt? or are you doing that as a "signup by XX date" thing to get the shirt?

Jconcepts Rounders in the front and Double Dee's in the rear for 2wd, Double Dee's all around in 4wd. Double Dee's get about 140-160 laps before laps times get off pace. Pro-line Holeshots work as well but the life expectancy is a little lower.

i read all the stuff on motors and shipping and all that, i just must have glossed over that particular part...

i think i might just do this. i never plan vacations and always end up doing something in the garage or driving home to see mom whenever i get days off 'cause just i dont plan anything.

any race i've ever been to required a painted body, so i doubt this race would be any different. you don't need to use a wing if you don't want to, but they do help with handling.

Not to answer for them, but the general "rule" is that the body needs to be painted

Besides, a clear body is VERY HARD to see on the track - so a little paint on it will make seeing the rig much easier..And that is your seeing it and OTHERS seeing it on the track...I've seen a few "newbies" running an unpainted body on a car, only to get their ride *SPLATTERED* all over the place because some other racer didn't see it - "sleath" cars are cool, just not on the race track

and like scr8p said - the wing may not be necessary, but it sure makes the vehicle handle MUCHO better...Wings on these little cars make ALL the difference between a good car and a "OMG what the heck is wrong with this dang thing" car
