Losi Pro/Proformance Hybrid
This is the second to the last first gen Losi I will be doing, all new parts. I didn't care about period correctness, just built it with what I had and what I wanted, hence the matching orange wheels and spur..... thought about a orange Hydra, but just didn't want to go back and pull the gear box apart again. Maybe in the future. Also a hardly seen rear set of Losi tires.... haven't been able to ID the part number or name, but they are cool, IMO.
Still needs a Pro rear shock tower to complete it.

Re: Losi Pro/Proformance Hybrid
After the last roasting I got, I had three more to complete. Had my Losi parts out just before I moved and keep them close when we settled. No since in throwing them all back in boxes, so I wanted to finish them. I am down to one left. I have to build something that is top secret.... then it will be off to RC10s. OK SCR8P.
Group photo will be coming, short a couple of them, as I sold one or two and traded one to Brandon.

Re: Losi Pro/Proformance Hybrid
We used to call those rear tires "stagger bars" but I don't know if that was the official Losi title for them. They worked very well on dry, dusty hard pack conditions. Ran them on more than a couple of dirt oval cars.
Another nice build!

Re: Losi Pro/Proformance Hybrid
Those rear tires were the Rear, Directional Patern (HT) part number A-7341. The HT was for High Traction and the tires usually has a silver marking on them.

Re: Losi Pro/Proformance Hybrid
what is the difference between ht and regular compounds? Is the HT harder for high bite tracks or softer to give higher traction?
I'll keep my eyes open to try to find a part# on jays tires, I don't recall seeing them before.

Re: Losi Pro/Proformance Hybrid
HT was a softer rubber compound, like what would be a "pink" compound today. Softer tires yield more traction. Keep in mind, this was pre-foam insert days, too, so the tire was still pretty hard comparatively.

Re: Losi Pro/Proformance Hybrid
The only older Losi tires that weren't an HT (softer) were:
A-7200 Front Tires, Kit Ribbed (K)
A-7210 Fronts, Stagger Rib (K)
A-7300 Rear, Kit 4 Row Spike (K)
There were also HT version of these tires. All HT tires ended in "1". So the HT Ribbed were A-7201.
One quick note about the front ribbed tires, Losi changed the mold mid production. The early design didn't have a lip on the outer edge (where it mounts to the wheel) while the newer versions had the lip. The same goes for the rear tires. I'll try to find examples and post it on this thread.

Re: Losi Pro/Proformance Hybrid
Do you know if the spur gears for these trucks are still readily available? My friend has an older TL truck with the same type of spur gear set-up but we cannot find them anywhere. Sorry to hijack your thread.
