Different motor plates (6 gear & stealth)

Post by MarkyDents »

Ok so I’ve been reading over some real old threads, namely about TQ10’s. I came across the info that the black motor plates on them were only for the 6 gear. Honestly never realized or tried to swap out motor plates between the two transmissions to know better. Without taking anything apart and just inspecting my different cars visually I really don’t see a difference between my early cars and later stealth cars.
Are there really two different design of motor plates ?
I kind of always assumed that AE just designed the stealth trans to bolt up to their existing 6 gear plate.
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

I'm not aware of any difference.

I have mounted a six gear to the Stealth plate from a 10T, and have both transmissions on JConcepts plates.

Motor plates for early cars lack a threaded hole used on the stealth. So if you have a black plate without the stealth hole I would consider that pretty rare

Now that you say it, I do remember having to drill/tap a hole in a early plate with swapping to a Stealth.

I've only put a Stealth in one A stamp car, then later swapped back to a six gear. That was a long time ago.

Looks as though this is the additional hole for the stealth trans, correct ?
My friend has my TQ10 that we recently acquired, I’ve asked him to take a picture of the motor plate with the spur gear removed to see which ones in it.
