Lunchbox mods

Post by cdnclodbuster »

I have 2 lunchboxes. One is modded with Tamiya oil filled shocks, 5th shock mod, Tamiya sport tuned (black can) motor, fast eddy bearings, and a HD metal geared ball bearing servo and I like it a lot. The other I picked up used and had to give her some love. HD metal geared servo, sport tuned (silver can ) motor, bearings, GPM front uprights (still waiting for), Yeah racing oil filled shocks, and the 5th shock mod as well. My question is I have noticed that the super hornet has a rear trans brace and wondering if it would fit the LB cause those rear shocks are awful close to the motor.

Sorry it's not a trans brace it is the shock mounts.

Looks very nice did you make the wheelie bar rod yourself and where did you get the wheels for the wheelie bar.

That’s a kit I bought off of eBay. There are others. Search lunchbox wheelie bar.

How do the different shocks change the handling?

Slightly less pogo stick bounce.

But they suffer seriously badly with bump steer and have high COG - so never a great handler.

5th shock settles the rear down - well it’s the damper more than the shock spring - but there are some methods that work better than others.

A brace between the front “shock tower” (you can use many things, I used a knitting needle once) is also worthwhile.

You can use the crp front arms for fx10 to give the van a little better front suspension, there have been some threads about it. It's supposed to be really good.

Ebay. Plenty to choose from.

Just search for "Futaba FX10".
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Post up some pictures. I'd love to see what a modded up lunchbox looks like.
