Where can I buy : small pattern 4/40 nuts

Post by guitronics »

I've been collecting hardware for RC 10's for a year! I would appreciate a source, like a manufacturer (so I can get a bunch of them) .
I can't find any "small pattern" 4/40 nuts. Any one have a lead?

Are you wanting small pattern regular nuts or lock nuts? I've found a couple sources for small aluminum nuts in different colors.

There are also jet nuts. They are an even smaller pattern, mechanical locking nut. They are cool but kinda expensive.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

they are smaller than a standard nut. so for instance, a standard 4-40 nut has a 1/4" hex. a small pattern nut has a 3/16"hex and is thinner. they are typically used on later cars, on the ball studs on the shock towers and hubs.

Glad I was able to help you out. :)

It can be quite difficult to find small specialty hardware. I've spent many hours looking, and places either require you to buy in really large quantities or don't sell to the public. I've found that McMaster-Carr usually has what I'm after. The only complaints I have with them are you don't know the brand names of what you're buying, and the mystery shipping costs. Between selling so many items, and their merchandise turnover rate being so high, they can't keep the website updated with brand information. Apparently if you call though they can tell you. They sell high-quality items whenever possible so it's kind of a moot point. The mystery shipping charges have always been their biggest complaint. They strive to get your order to you so fast that they don't know what the cost will be until after the fact. They really should have the option of slightly slower shipping but you'll know the amount. I've always found what they've charged for it to be fair but I've also never bought anything big or placed a large order at once.
