so when associated lists their shocks they give a length i.e. .56 .89 1.02 etc. is this length of the shocks stroke? or something else?
secondly, which rc10's used which lengths?

It's the length of available stroke inside the shock body or of the shock shaft. You'll notice on the B4/T4 that the shock bodies are a little longer (1.18 vs 1.02 for example). That's to give the piston room at the top of it's stroke ensuring it stays in the oil.
